Is there supposed to be a widget?

No matter what plugin I install to bring back Link Manager (I’ve tried this one, Eazy Enable Blogroll, and Blogroll Block), I get the manager back but there’s no widget so that I can include the links in my sidebar widget area. Am I missing something?

The lite one is useless, and the professional hasn’t a price ( nothing to guide about), depends on site size, I think.
Very disappointed.

After update all links are gone
So I deactivated Links Manager plugin
But links stay gone.
And I cannot see any links option in my WordPress menu any more

Use List Category Posts with Links Manager?

I’m trying to use this plugin to list out the links from a WordPress Links Manager category but it isn’t working.

My Links Manager categories have a post-type of post, so I would think it would work but nothing I try will work.

I’ve tried many shortcode combinations but here’s an example:

[catlist id=’linkcat-256′]

Links Manager assigns category as such: id=linkcat-256 taxonomy=link_category post_type=post

It must be because the links within the categories are not posts themselves—thoughts, workarounds?

How is the “Link Category” field ([Admin] -> Links -> Link Categories -> [Category]) supposed to be used? (I see that, in the grouped list of links, the text that’s inside the “Category Name” field becomes a hyperlink with the text that’s inside the “Link Category” field as the target but I don’t understand how I should be using this text field.)

e.g., Can/Should this hyperlink be used to display a page with only the links that are assigned to that category? What would the correct value be to make that happen?

Is LL 5.9.13 compatible with WP 4.6?

After disabling Links Manager, I tried installing LL 5.9.13 into WP 4.6 using the WordPress Plugin Catalog method (i.e., Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New -> Select one from the catalog) and using the Plugin Upload method (i.e., Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add New -> Upload) but both methods fail.

The Apache error_log only had this to say:

Links Manager and "Cheating" Error

I don’t quite know if this should be a ticket and if so if it’s not just part of #14530, but yesterday I ran into an issue with the Links Manager.

I have a multisite that was created before the 3.5 depreciation of the links list in core. So, some of my subsets had a links list and some didn’t depending on when they were created. I only clued into this yesterday when starting to migrate a new subsite from an existing WP blog that is quite old.

I know the Links Manager plugin needed to be installed. I also know that on a standalone site you see the following when trying to access that depreciated feature: “If you are looking to use the link manager, please install the Link Manager plugin.” (It helpfully links to the plugin, too.)

On multisite, you see: “Cheating huh?” Or, well, that’s what I saw until I installed the plugin, now I see the error message above.

Using links from WordPress Link in pages

When creating a page or post, is there any way to pick a predefined link from the WordPress Links (blogroll) manager and insert it in the page or post?

When defining a link in the page/post editor, one can choose ‘existing content’, but this is only other pages. Is there a way to pick one of the links?

The site I’m working on now has a number of sponsors and each time they are mentioned they would like to have a link to their own home page. So the same link will be used more than once in different pages. I would like to be able to update all instances of a link by updating it once in the WordPress Links manager.

Is this possible, via WordPress or a plugin?

Add custom taxonomy to "Links" (aka bookmarks)

I enabled the Links Manager in my wordpress installation.
I use the Links as a way of managing banner ads. By using Link Categories I can display specific banners on the right place of the site.
What I am trying to do is to register a custom taxonomy (“clubs”) to the Links post type (BTW: are “Links” a regular post-type just as “posts” or “pages”?)
I am trying to do this so I can extend a taxonomy I use on posts, to also be used on Links, this way I can relate posts to links and display the right ads for my post sidebar, based on the same taxonomy they share.
I tried using the function: register_taxonomy_for_object_type(‘clubs’, ‘links’) but it does nothing. (I tried using links, link, Links, Link in the post_type parameter as well). ‘clubs’ is the correct name of a custom taxonomy I have already registered (via plugin).
I am also attaching that register function to the ‘plugins_loaded’ hook, so to make sure my ‘clubs’ taxonomy is correctly created by my plugin when I try to extend it to the Links.
I can’t seem to find much help about this online, especially because the words “links” and “taxonomy” on my search terms return mainly other kind of topic that is not what I am trying to solve, so I created this topic.
Any help?
