Hello,

I am creating a number of www.ads-software.com websites locally using Xampp (and creating a back end database with php myadmin).

I am wanting to create wordpress websites for clients professionally. Is it wise to create regular back-ups of local wordpress websites to save creations over time? If so, what is the process of backing a locally hosted website to save creations of a website in case it gets lost? Would it be saved as a zip file? What is the process of then restoring a saved local wordpress website? Have searched everywhere for this but cant find any step by step process. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Does your plugin provide an option to host Google Analytics locally? We checked your plugin in detail and could not find that option.

As you probably know, hosting Google Analytics locally eliminates the related GTMetrix notification: “Serve static assets with an efficient cache policy.”

Also, can you tell us what is the impact of hosting Google Analytics locally using another plugin (such as Perfmatters) on the readings or data collected by your plugin?

Sharing other useful comments or wisdom related to this topic are welcome as well

Free Image Optimization on My Own Server

I am struggling to find a free plugin that optimizes my images locally, on my own server.
All the plugins use CDNs or upload your images to a third-party service and charge money for it.

Is there such a thing at all?

Currently wavesurfer.js is loaded from Cloudflare:

//cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/wavesurfer.js/1.4.0/wavesurfer.js

On sites with strict privacy settings it would be better to host this file locally.

Can you please make an option to choose between hotlinking it from Cloudflare or hosting it on the same site?

To reflect the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that is in force since today 25th May 2018 I would like to ask how to avoid the loading of external files by the theme like the stylesheet link to https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Raleway%3A400%2C500%2C600%2C700%2C300%2C100%2C800%2C900%7COpen+Sans%3A400%2C300%2C300italic%2C400italic%2C600%2C600italic%2C700%2C700italic&subset=latin%2Clatin-ext&ver=2.0.8

I see there is a support thread “How change font url to local files?” but since I can not code PHP from scratch and using Custom CSS AFAIK would only overwrite the previous URL and not prevent the browser from accessing the external server file?
Can you please add an option to use font files stored locally in the themes folder?
Or is there an easy way by using the child theme functions.php ?

Hi. I’m using Editorial Theme and i need to remove the google fonts from the theme and add it localy.

I found this Tutorial but it only talk’s to another themes. And i all ready install the plugins but it doesn’t work.

Is there a way to install the fonts localy?. Thanks

Hi!

I installed WordPress on my Raspberry Pi 2 using Apache2. Everything works fine, except connecting my domain name to the site.

I can acces the site on my local network, on my dns (https://mathiasvissers.ddns.net) and trough my domain name www.mathiasvissers.com.

I’ve set the my WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to www.mathiasvissers.com.

This works fine for me, but nobody outside the network can acces my site. However, if people use https://mathiasvissers.ddns.net (from No-IP), they can acces my site. If I set both WordPress URLs to this, everything works fine. But I would like to use my domain name instead.

I think my domain name uses the correct name servers (ns1&2.no-ip.org). I use the www CNAME alias to link my domain name to mathiasvissers.ddns.net.

So why do you think my domain name only works in the LAN network and not outside of it? And why is it no problem if I change all the settings to my DNS?
