Elementor lost all work after saving as draft

I was working on a new site for about 6 hours today, I was making great use of the save as draft button and I was getting feedback stating that my work was saved. I could see my history building up in the side pane. I took a break and came back to my computer and started work on another page, when I referenced the homepage for some info I noticed that none of my work was there, just a skeleton shell. I had a full landing page saved as a draft and it is all gone. I cannot find it anywhere, and there are no revision to my work anywhere. I have attempted to follow the documentation to return to my saved work, no luck. Please help.

Lots of closed reports on this – but still happens to me.

It is sporadic. I get the red bar that says that updating failed. The only way to get back to saving work is to reload the page. This often loses a few minutes of edits.

This means a need to copy the text to a plain text edit app, then repaste bits into the blocks, extracting html as I go.

I use Wordfence, W3 Total Cache and Thrive Themes.

Please, please, please DO NOT launch this as a mandatory part of WP until you fix this. I am reverting to the old editor.

Save Draft lost all work

Hi,

I recently spent 4 hours writing an article on a page. When I clicked save draft, WordPress asked me to login again. You know the capacha popped up with a relatively easy math sum. Then when it reloaded all my data was gone.

I have checked the revisions and it says my last revision was 19 hours ago. I have also tried skipping back to the page and still nothing. Is there anyway I can find it?

I really don’t think I can write that again as it was an ad lib piece, and pretty darn good if you ask me.

Recovering a lost post

I am a wordpress neophyte so please forgive me if the question I am asking has an incredibly obvious answer. When working on a post today, I tried to save a draft and lost everything. It came up with an “are you sure you want to do this” page, which it has done before, but this time when I confirmed I was redirected back to the new post page and all my work was gone. In the past my browser has saved a backup, but I don’t know how to access this. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you so much!

edit: I have been doing some research, and it would appear that in the past people have solved similar problems with the ‘revisions’ tab under screen options. They are all several years old, though, and I no longer see revisions as an option.

You know what sucks? When you do a whole bunch of work and then click Save or Publish and it goes to a mostly blank screen that just says Are you sure you want to do this? And there is only one option, which is yes. You click it and you go to a login screen and all your work is gone! Sometimes it autosaves, sure, but sometimes it does not. Or it hasn’t saved the last bunch of updates or most recent brilliant phrase you already can’t recall.
I understand that there is some sort of time limit on how long I can be logged in for, but it would be good maybe if I was automatically logged out after a certain period of non-connectivity.
For instance, the last time I was logged in to my website was last weekend. I left it and did not go there at all, all week. Today I went there and the Edit links were still visible, so I knew I was still logged in, even though I haven’t been there for a week. An hour or so later, it logged me out.
But why isn’t it set to like 12 hours or hours or something? A week? Probably more, as I don’t remember when I last actually had to log in.
So yeah, my request would be to stop logging me out while I’m in the middle of something. If it’s time to log out, have it wait until I leave the site, or at least let me Save/Publish what I’ve been working on before asking me to log in again.
That is all.

"Page" blog entry method may be defective

I admit that I don’t use the “Page” function much if at all.

I was working on my own Privacy Policy for the blog. I decided to save the draft, so I clicked on the link “Save Draft” and exited the room. Even before the first “save,” I saw where WordPress claimed to had saved a draft of the post, which did seem peculiar because I hadn’t saved the draft yet.

So, when I returned to the room, the entire document was -gone-. It was simply a blank page, although it had retained the title.

I do use an assigned links-name plugin and had already assigned the title, so that developer will, if I can find the necessary info, be receiving a carbon copy of this message along with WordPress support forum.

Of course, I did look and see what was at the shortlink, but it reverted to the typed link.

The problem relates to two things:

1. There does not appear to be more than one draft associated with a “Page”-type posting.
2. Some kind of overlooked error erased my hard work without notification.

That covers it.

Lost all my work

I was using twenty eleven to set up a basic site. I haven’t even activated my site yet. Had to shut down my laptop and when I logged back in, everything is gone – media files, posts, pages, categories, tags, plug-ins, everything. I haven’t installed or un-istalled anything since I last viewed my work. Just logged out of my site dashboard… I have no idea where to start to find it all again. Admittedly, I’m a complete newbie and have no clue, but I know I saved everything. twice. Any suggestions are appreciated. Help!

Urgent help needed!

Have just set up a new wordpress blog, www.thefiskreport.com

I had done some work on the theme, and added 2 pages.

Yesterday, inexplicably, the site failed, would not load, and an error message appeared.

I contacted the hosts, who confirmed it was a problem they were dealing with.

Today, at last the site was back up again, but somehow, it is a version of the site from a few days back.

Logging in to the wp-admin page, I find that updates I’d done over the last few days are just not there.

Is there any way these could be retrieved? Most annoyingly, I have lost a whole page I’d written straight onto WordPress, without backing up. Also, various changes to the theme.

Any urgent help appreciated.

Lost 3 hours of work

In my case, I had just attempted to add my last image–maybe the sixth in the post–with captions and credits et al. That image wouldn’t load and when I tried to return to the post to save what I had done, it took me back to an “add post” screen. I pushed the forward button and got back to the post as I had seen it this morning, before I started adding images and making other edits.

It seems that this problem has persisted over many years without resolution as there were posts 5 years old and more describing similar occurrences. WHY?
