Wishlist: Better Stats

We’d like to have better stats.

For example, we have a group called .
That magazine has 12 issues per year.
Somehow we’d like to see a total of all Links that were used in one of those issue … because we use link-titles like
Mag-Ed03-2022
Mag-Ed04-2022
etc.

So when I do a search for “Mag-Ed04-2022”, I only get the links of that issue.
Which works fine, but I don’t get a total.

We could do one group per issue, problem is, we have 20 magazines. 20*12 would make A LOT of groups and not be usable.

Hi, I run a website with a somewhat large amount of content and we use magazines on the front page to display different categories of posts,

On that front page, I want those thumbnails to default to their current profile picture(Buddypress), just to make things simpler.

(I would also like the users username, number of comments on the article, and number of views the blog has gotten to appear, but, baby steps)

Any ideas?

Hi,
I’m using Weaver II theme and want to create a back catalogue of a load of magazines.
So can anyone recommend a very simple table plugin or tell me in simple a,b,c… language how to do it – I’m no good at code, which doesn’t really help!!
Basically I want something that will just contain Months (as 12 columns)and the Years (as rows, up to about 30) then people can select a month for any given year which will link to a PDF version of the magazine in question.

I’ve looked at some but they all seem a little too complicated for what I want.

Want to setup couple of different magazine websites into multisite

I work for a publishing company that has multiple different magazine publications and they’re all on different WordPress installations. If we decide to consolidate all the magazine websites into multisite, is it possible to have:

1. The same main theme for all the magazines?
2. The same homepage where we can pull in the latest content from all the different magazines?
3. Last but not least, do you think it’s a good move for us to put all the magazines on multisite?

Creating a magazine: General advice?

Dear all,

Since I got pharma hacked two years ago, I migrated my blogs to wordpress.com. Now, however, I am starting up a new project – a magazine dedicated to English language translations from the European media – so catching up with what WP.org has become in the past few years has become a must. Since this seems to be the “general” forum here, I’m posting it here, and will appreciate feedback.

(1) Now obviously following my experience I’m rather paranoid about security. I have read many tips about how to harden a WP blog against attacks, but I’m not sure which ones have the best/most reliably returns on effort.

Is it worth paying for something like VaultPress? Or is it more effective to get security solutions from my hosting provider (Bluehost?). Or maybe just switch hosts to a specialized WordPress hoster like Synthesis?

(2) I will be needed multiple taxonomies, i.e. beyond just Categories and tags (e.g. news/open/interview/etc; politics/economy/fashion/etc; language its translated from; publication name; name of original author(s); name of translator(s). I see there are many multiple taxonomies plugins as well as a method to hardcode it yourself, so what is the most reliable/appropriate course of action here?

(3) Will need a good plugin for glossary (i.e. there are some foreign words that can’t adequately be translated into English, so you leave the original and get the glossary definition to hover over it when gliding your cursor across it).

(4) Something that I have found very useful (not from WP experience, but from managing a forum) is a plugin/add-on from where you can make modifications to the template files without altering them directly (so you don’t have to redo changes when you upgrade). Is there an equivalent for WordPress?

(5) Themes… Unless someone has a better solution, I’m going to keep it brief: Get the Genesis theme and buy/tweak a magazine child theme for it, or just buy some ready made magazine theme from someplace like Theme Forest?

How to make a magazines with BP

I need to make a magazines online with WP.
I see several themes, but I’ve not understood how I can create the grid of the pages where I can put the title, the over title, the subtitle, the summary of the article and the extract of the same article.

I’m searching for some plugins for show images and with the related text in different positions.

Finally, and maybe this is the thing more important for my project, I need to give to author not a full page editor, but some fields where he/she can write the titles /summary / extract end the full articles.
I cannot ask to authors to insert in the article the tag “Read more” because nobody do this and so my articles are always very long.

Or I am able to publish only a predetermined number of words/characters, or the author must write in a filed a summary with a predetermined length.
Obviously then I must be albe to publish it together with the over title/subtitle and the categories.

I’m studying some WP based magazines, but I don’t see plugins for this work. It is seems that they publish the magazines working directly over the CSS but this is out of my possibility because the time and the budget are very little.
