I have a mess of errors reported by Search Console with Major Content Mismatch.
Here is why:
#1- I use the Custom AMP Editor (because my theme does not translate well to AMP)
#2- I paginate some of my blog posts
#3- I cannot paginate the Post on the Custom AMP Editor
Therefore, the AMP page #2 (or 3, or 4) does not match the contents of the canonical URL at all.
There’s the error: Major content mismatch.
This is from Search Console: No further details available for this type of issue
Open both AMP and canonical versions in a browser and look for mismatched contents
All content is mismatched, as /2?amp=1 does not exist but points to the canonical for /2/
Google is looking at the site URLs and then sees there’s an AMP version. Therefore, it will look for the AMP version for all of the pages in the article (let’s say 2 pages) and will create the above mentioned URL (don’t know how – I’m sure you know better than me)
So, unless there’s Pagination available on the Custom AMP Editor, this error will continue to show.
For now, to avoid this error on Search Console, I disabled the AMP page on the blog posts that were on the Search Console but what’s the point of having AMP if I have to disable it, right?
Quick question: Where did this option go on the new release? Archive subpages (sitewide) and others under SEO?
Thank you!
]]>AMP link example: https://www.travelplanner.com.sg/region/africa/?amp
Canonical link example: https://www.travelplanner.com.sg/region/africa/
I’m not sure how to correct this since the AMP pages were created automatically and I couldn’t find an option to edit specific pages.
Any help would be much appreciated!
]]>I’m seeing critical issues in Google Search Console for my website, https://www.solidprofessor.com, and I’m unsure how to resolve them.
AMP URL – Last detected
/amp/page/27/ – 3/3/18
/amp/page/18/ – 3/1/18
/amp/page/21/ – 3/1/18
/blog/amp/page/16/ – 2/28/18
/amp/page/23/ – 2/28/18
/blog/amp/page/17/ – 2/25/18
When I click on any of these issues in GSC, the expanded information reveals that the canonical has the url parameter “?var” added on the end of them.
eg:
AMP URL: https://www.solidprofessor.com/amp/page/27/
Canonical URL: https://www.solidprofessor.com/amp/page/27/?var
I leverage that parameter on a set of unrelated Pages on my site. AMP is only enabled for Posts on my site, not Pages. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated, thanks for your help!
Cheers,
John
Issue #2 – When I click on AMP Mobile Preview (show AMP for current page) after selecting “Use This Content as AMP Content” all I see is a mobile device with a blank screen (?)
UPDATE: Issue #2 has been fixed with today’s plugin update.
THIS PLUGIN HAS GREAT SUPPORT
