Transferring website/domain – Please just give me a dummy’s guide…

Hi! I am not proficient with website building and need a really broken down dummy’s guide to the problem I’m having.

Basically, I started a website (I’m an author and artist) about a year and a half ago through GoDaddy. It’s a ‘managed wordpress’ website and my domain is also with GoDaddy. However, for what I use the website for (promotion of books and the occassional blog entry), it’s absolutely costing me a fortune and I don’t use half of the features I’m paying for.

What I would really like to do is transfer this site and the domain name over to WordPress so I can pay for one of their cheaper plans but I don’t want to lose anything that I’ve already created on my website – I really want to keep it all exactly the same! I’ve read various articles saying that there are ways to do this but I haven’t found a particularly easy (or, at least, easily explained) way of doing this.

I would be so grateful for any help you can possibly give me! My GoDaddy renews again in July and I simply cannot afford it but don’t want to get rid of my website – it’s taken a lot of work!

I log into Godaddy to access my “Managed WordPress” Am I able to use Jetpack directly or do I have to login to Godaddy somehow?

I have a managed WordPress plan from GoDaddy. My WordPress installation is fresh. I have no pages in it. I’ve switched between multiple themes and I couldn’t see any pages in “all pages”. Isn’t strange or some themes require creating all pages from scratch? On other WordPress installations, I used to preview theme’s pages after activating the theme.

Managed WordPress DNS Issues

I have a site built through godaddy’s managed wordpress. They provided a domain to use during setup (v9p.9f8.myftpupload.com) but I want to move this to my own domain. To do so, Godaddy says I must update the DNS A record.

I can’t find anywhere in my site’s wordpress settings where I can do this. Has anyone else had this issue before? How can I update the site’s DNS within wordpress?

GoDaddy Managed WordPress www issue

We have noticed that people who try to access our website using www.bhsh.com instead of just bhsh.com are getting an error of “Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding.”

GoDaddy tells us that WordPress is blocking it and there is nothing they can do. I find that hard to believe. Does anyone else have that issue?

I suspect (not sure though) that the managed installation has quite a bit of code and possibly database entries that I don’t want on the non-managed installation.
Does the plugin support to filter this?

Would your plugin work with my Managed WordPress GoDaddy website? Managed WordPress has no cron.
Would the feed still update? I add 5-6 new products to my store each week.

Facebook Product Feed Doesn’t update

I created an XML product feed for Facebook. I normally add new products every 2-3 days so the proper update and quick visibility on Facebook/IG is of most importance to me.
I have set updates to 1 hour. I have also selected “both” under Product Query Type in settings.
I see in FB commerce page that your updates are unsuccessful.
Is it a problem that I have Managed WordPress with GoDaddy (we don’t have cron job).
Do you require cron job for your feed?
If so, what other options have I got? I wouldn’t like to change from Managed Wrdpress.

My Facebook and Google product feeds are stuck

I’m trying to create feds for both Facebook and Google however they are stuck on 33%. I see from your settings page that all plugin systems are fine.
Could you suggest a solution to the problem?
