As you can see from my site — and I haven’t reconstructed the menu yet — I have easily had over 100 items on the top menu, and thought that was fine, and planned to add another 100 more. However, now it seems that wordpress is a ticking time bomb and can blow my menu to bits out of the blue.
I spent a LONG time building that web site, the menu was the hardest part and now it has to be done over. A second time. Because it also blew up a few months ago at another host, the whole menu vanished, no explanation. Till now.
So, either I build the site over again in a completely different system, if I can find one, or I try to make this one work.
I LOVE my theme, I don’t want to alter the look of it, I want to keep it.
Therefore, my questions are:
1 – Does Max Mega Menu support unlimited menu items on the top menu, or does it blow up like regular wordpress?
2 – If Max Mega Menu does support unlimited items on the top menu – in my case likely to be a bit over 200 all totalled when all the newsletters are embedded and posted — does it CHANGE the menu design and appearance, because I don’t want to change it.
I just want stability for more than 40 top menu items.
P.S. A few months ago when the menu shredded for the first time, the top menu entirely disappeared, and 3/4 of the footer menu also vanished. WordPress is a nightmare. Is there any solution? I’d really like to FINISH my work and have it stay that way, instead of doing it over and over and over and over…. Thanks for your time.
]]>I recently installed the Suppamenu Pro mega menu on my site www.spousehood.com (I haven’t customized the skin, yet. Waiting to see if I can get it functioning properly before spending time on that). However, after the install, only half of the top-level items are showing on my menu. This plug-in doesn’t come with install support, and while I can use HTML and CSS, I have no PHP experience. The documentation says the following:
“
Fix The Menu Items Limit
1. PHP max_input_vars
create a php.ini inside your “wp-admin” folder and add this line to it.
max_input_vars = 3000
if the code is already there , increase the number to 3000 or more ( that depends )
if you don’t know what you are doing , contact your host and have them make this changes for you.
2. Suhosin
Not all the server have Suhosin ( PHP Security module ) .
Same steps like (1) and add this code :
suhosin.post.max_vars = 3000
suhosin.request.max_vars = 3000
if the code is already there , increase the number to 3000 or more ( that depends )
“
I did contact my host, but they weren’t too helpful either. They set the “max_input_vars” to 5000 for me, but the menu still isn’t functioning correctly.
So, I am hoping someone can tell me in layman’s terms how to execute the steps above or how to take another approach to correct the problem.
I’d love to make this plug-in work because it has all of the functionality I need, but I have no idea how. Please help! Thank you!
]]>max_input_vars = 5000
(They haven’t added suhosin as they don’t use it) I’ve also installed the Menu Item Limit Detector Plugin but that doesn’t seem to work when activated as I keep getting the same problem. I’ve also tried deactivating plugins and changing to a default theme but no joy.
Not quite sure what else to do really and it’s driving me slightly mad! One thought is that the site I’m working on is in a new install of WP in a folder called NEW. Would there need to be a php.ini file within this folder or is it ok just in the root?

]]>I can get up to 100 items on my menu, and then it stops, I can add more, but when I click save menu, it reverts to the top 100 items.
hosting provider suggest editing the PHP.INI code as follows:
suhosin.post.max_vars = 5000
suhosin.request.max_vars = 5000
I’ve set in php.ini file but its not working fine.
any idea? please help?

Nothing seems to help and I really need a step by step guide. Anyone able to help out?
