Trying to add a map and the map display shows the error below.
Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript
console for technical details.
I’ve tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge. all with the same
error.
I know that I can secure a key for myself here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key
…but I’m not sure if I’m meant to do that / where to put it when I get one.
Any help here? The maps were working up until recently and the plugin is amazing when all is working.
]]>From what I understand of this, wordpress.com stats within a self hosted website can only be coupled to the api key of 1 wordpress.com account. Using a new api key isn’t possible, but once you’ve tried doing so, you also can’t go back.
I now therefore am at a complete loss concerning how to solve this. Anyone more ideas?

]]>I’ve posted and have seen numerous posts from people who can’t find their API key, despite following the instructions given. I think the following blog post I found on google will help.
The way I understand it is if you are using wordpress hosted on your own domain, you have to set up an additional wordpress.com account (can be completely random and unconnected with your other one) in order to generate this api key. You can then use it for any wordpress blog. Please correct me if I’m wrong….
