Hello! I just moved my website – www.rupertusresearch.com over to Blue Host from wordpress.com and I lost most of my formatting. I’m trying to re-do everything the way I originally had it and I’m having a lot of trouble changing some of the colors. I’m a n00b, so I tried to find a plugin that would let me do it easily, but can’t find anything that seems to work with my theme. I understand the general concept of CSS, but I can’t seem to figure out what code would help me change the entire background color of both the header and footer bar from black to navy blue. If you visit my wordpress.com site: www.rupertusresearch.wordpress.com, you can see the effect that I’m trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

New to forum – I have one site, www.catacombsociety.org, running on WP.org Motif Child theme. Launched in July, 15, worked almost perfectly until a week ago, when I received alert to upgrade to 4.5.2. Since the upgrade, the front end of the site has been loading very slowly, and as an administrator, I can’t get beyond the initial Dashboard page to make any edits/posts, add users, etc. Each time I go to a basic command, like “Add New Post” (to a blog) or “Add User”, I receive one of several messages on white screen:
500: Internal server error

1. This error is generated when a script running on the server could not be implemented or permissions are incorrectly assigned for files or directories
Troubleshooting suggestions:
Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists.
Ensure that any CGI or Perl scripts have at least .755. permissions.
If trying to run PHP and you get this error, you may have an invalid php.ini in your /cgi-bin, or may be missing your php.dat file in this folder.

Aligning social media with site title in header

Hi,

I am trying to get a row of social media icons to align in the same horizontal plane as the site title and tagline. I’ve reduced the width of the tag line with css, but I can only place the icons above or below this horizontal area. This image shows what I would like to achieve.
