I noticed WordPress are dropping support for IE6. Pivotal in my eyes. Bravo.
Then I spotted the minimum server requirements when my install failed. Oh dear. I’m in trouble.
My PHP version is fine. But I’m running MySQL 4.1.22-standard and if you’re in this post you’re probably the sort of person that knows that 3.2 needs MySQL 5.
I have a cluster of sites (most WordPress) running on the same server. I’m not a network admin so I wouldn’t even know how to start upgrading and checking that all the DBs / sites came across intact.
I’m running WHM 11.28.87 on a Centos box.
My immediate thought was to look at EasyApache and fiddle with some stuff in there. But then I’m worried about breaking tables and losing data.
Does anyone have any clue as to an upgrade strategy in a scenario like this?
]]>I’m having trouble using WP 3.01 in combination with a mySQL 5.0 database. Specifically, I can’t edit pages (posts seem to work) – I am getting an error 500 and the page fails to load in the editor.
Display of the page on the web site works ok. Also, I can’t seem to upload new images (http error), both with the browser and flash uploader. WP auto-update fails as well.
This is on a x86 Linux server running mySQL 5.0 (I only have the options to use mySQL 5.0 or 4.0 and WP 3 doesn’t work with 4.0).
Interestingly, downgrading to WP 2.91 solved the problem but I’d rather like to use the latest if possible.
Any ideas, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW there’s a bug in mySQL 5 that prevents backups to be restored. You need to add USE <databasename>
; at the beginning of your .sql file in order to correctly restore it.
Thanks

]]>I fear I’ve gotten myself in a little bit of trouble, here. I developed a new site in WP 2.7 locally using MySQL v.5.0.41, and just now I’ve realized that my production server actually runs v.4.1.11. It is not an option to upgrade MySQL on the server.
So what I need to do is downgrade the database to something I can successfully import into a 4.1.11 environment. I don’t know how to go about doing this and it seems to me like it may be messy.. but I really don’t have a choice, redeveloping from scratch would be a real problem, I’ve gotten pretty in-depth.
I would really appreciate any help you can offer!
Thanks in advance. =)
]]>i kept on trying to configure cache and memory of my server but no luck. The server is just Buffalo Linkstation Pro with debian installed in it. LS pro just provide only 266mhz of processing speed and 128mb of ram. As i’ve tried it, Mysql 5 and Apache 2 need more level of cache and processing unit.
To keep the story short, i’ve stop wasting time configuring the small server and bought HP proliant DL server which cost me a few £ . Magically the performance issues been resolved and all the links are working perfectly. As result, 5 of my sites are now running in blazing speed and no one complain anything yet. Anybody else have performance issues? ]]>
My site was working perfectly right until the update. Here is some information:
URL: https://www.keenandgraev.com
Version: 2.5
Apache version 2.0.63
PHP version 5.2.5
MySQL version 5.0.51a-community
Any help is appreciated.
]]>I set up the installation on the new server and everything seemed to work OK – all my old posts were still there.
I tried creating a new post, hit publish – and it didn’t appear.
I found it had been moved into ‘drafts’. I cannot now edit the post – if I click on the title it sends me back to the posts folder. If I hover over the post I can see from the link it has been set as “post=0” whereas other posts in the drafts folder (created before the server move) have a number other than zero.
When I try to create further new posts now they do not even appear in the drafts folder when I click publish – they just disappear.
Any idea what has gone wrong here and how I can fix it?
