hello, just started using this plugin, been searching for something like this for a while. great work!

If I don’t select a defult upload gallery using the id=x tag, is it possible to add a dropdown list (or 2) with gallery and album??

I’m just trying to use Nextgen Public Uploader to let the subscribers upload photos. It works perfectly.
But i need to know the user id who uploaded the photo. How can i get that?? Is it already exist in the plugin or should I type some code to do that??

Slow NextGENGallery – Gallery Management

Over the last several months (Since the last few NextGEN updates and the last few WordPress updates) when I change and save any Alt & Title Text / Descriptions within a gallery it will take 1 to 1 1/2 minutes to save the new text, per image description (not the image upload). I usually upload 10 images at a time and then go back and add the descriptions. The actual upload is quicker than saving the text. It does not make sense.

I never had this last year and I have to upload between 150 and 200 Images a month with descriptions.

It now takes me days to do this! I run on an up-to-date Thesis Theme & 3.5.1 WordPress. Anyone have any ideas to fix this? Thanks. www.lightspacetime.com

[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] NextGen flash uploader degrades resized pictures

I know there have been other questions about picture quality, but they do not seem address the exact issue I am having.

What I want to do is take my photos straight off my camera (in jpg format, size about 2mb) and upload them straight to my NextGen gallery, while having them resized to max width 640px in the process.

If I do just that, using the NextGen flash uploader set to ‘automatically resize images” the uploaded images lose significant quality – they lose sharpness, and at times become pixelated. It is as if they are being saved in very low quality jpg. The file size, however, ends up at around 450kb

On the other hand, if I first manually resize the images (using IrfanView) and then upload them using the flash uploader with the resizing switched off, their better image quality is preserved. Yet the file size now is only 250kb.

So the flash resizer is producing poorer quality, yet larger file size, pictures. The thumbnails are also really poor – very blurred.

There is no option on NextGen for choosing image quality (only on the thumbnails – set to 100%). I have tried both the GD and the imageMagick options, but it makes no difference (I guess they are used in the thumbnail generation only).

So, are there any solutions to this? Or do I have to manually resize all my images before uploading?

Nextgen private gallery upload

I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong forum, but I have looked around the web, and have not been able to find a plug-in or series of plug-ins that would do what I am looking for.

What I would like is to be able to have users register at my site, and then be able to create multiple private galleries (with no intention of these ever having the ability of being public) and I would like to use Nextgen, although I suppose that isn’t set in stone. The users would need to be able to upload new photos to their gallery, with the ability to add or delete photos at a later date.
