]]>I am now unable to deactivate and delete the plugin. I can not access my admin area – 403 forbidden. My site is no longer available via any browser – 403 Forbidden. Is there anything you can do to enable me to access my site and the admin area?
]]>After doing some reading it seems the correct course of action is to access the site from the host FTP.
So once I get the username and password to do this, do I just find the functions.php and restore it to the original code? I have the original code saved in my text editor.

]]>Site was up / admin available yesterday. I’m making some changes so I downloaded entire site via FTP into a new folder on my hard drive. When I went to access today everything [admin / site / pages] is 404. Even though I made NO changes at all to the site. I tried removing the plugins folder and then uploaded the entire site from my backup – still the same. I’m using the Themeforest Abundance theme with Woo commerce.
I have another wp site on the same server so it’s not that and I checked the sql database and that doesn’t show any changes. Any ideas appreciated.
]]>Had this problem all yesterday and despite how many different posts and articles I have read (a lot) I am getting nowhere. Will give as much background as I can.
A website I took over last year was installed in a sub folder /propertyspain, so the home page has always been www.yourdreamhome.es/propertyspain. I used to copy and paste the source code from this homepage to an html file that existed in the root which then kept our home page www.yourdreamhome.es the same. Not ideal due to duplicate content but I only started with wordpress earlier this year.
Yesterday, I saw an article here https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/04/08/moving-wordpress-website/ about an easy way to get your website working on the root. I took the first option which said was easy
Basically it said to turn off permalinks, change site url, copy index.php and .htaccess and edit a line of code in the index.php to (‘./subdirectoryname/wp-blog-header.php) subdirectory name being my sub directory. Then turn permalinks back on.
Having done this none of yourdreamhome.es or yourdreamhome.es/propertyspain worked. There was an error message something about line 17 wp-blog-header. After ages on the phone with hosting company (who couldnt even log in to ftp with all correct credentials) didnt get anywhere.
After looking at numerous posts and asrticles about .htaccess and index.php i have managed to get both yourdreamhome.es and yourdreamhome.es/propertyspain up and running but I am unable to access the admin area. The error message I get is Directory Listing Denied, This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.
All I want to do is leave it as is and get access back to my WordPress admin area, can anyone help please?
Never trying that again Thanks in advance.

There are hosts of atteempts to access the sites by IPs that are said to be assigned to corporate sites. The above 131.253.24.138 is Microsoft IP and I see google, Wowrack.com and one from Germany among others.
I’ve also seen in the logs:

I deleted Wordfence and reverted to a standard htaccess file with no change in pefromance.
I had accessed both sites earlier today and was addng a new post to one (www.abengnews.com) and lost connection while adding a photo and was unable to “Update”. I had intermittent access before complete inaccess.
Looking through the files via GoDaddy’s dashboard shows no added files or changed files except Wordfence and the htaccess files I changed.
