When trying to add a radio input and save the content on the panel using the yellow disk I get an error that says “Not Acceptable”.

I need to do this but I’ve only been able to save only these options.

Is this maybe a limitation of the free version of the plugin?

I called for help to my Web host (FatCow), and a support person added this fix to two places, the page giving the error and an .htaccess file in the root directory that may or may not have been there before. (I can’t tell you.)

For the page giving the error, she added it at top, before any html, even DOCTYPE. Anyhow, now it works.

Two questions. First, any idea what might have gone wrong? As I say, I’m not aware of any changes to my system, beyond my usual writing habits. Second, do you think I need both changes, or can I (say) remove the fix from the html page giving the failed link while keeping the .htaccess file?

In case it helps, my site is https://www.haberarts.com. You’ll see numerous WordPress posts with links to files in the root directory, but (whenever I cite an art gallery or museum) a link to https://www.haberarts.com/style/museums.html (followed by a # and the id of the gallery or museum at stake). I have tried to create a new link but when I click the ‘Save Link’ button I get this error message

What does this mean, and how do I fix this?

This began when I was using the wi-fi at a sports center, meeting with a client and trying to add a plugin. No password was called for, and an unfamiliar server. That is when I started getting “406 Not Acceptable” An appropriate representation of the requested resource /blog/wp-login.php could not be found on this server.”

I followed up on some support threads, and found one which suggested the hosting might have some sort of issue, in this case Bluehost. Their support said it was a plugin issue. I then looked at the site with Filezilla and discovered the plugin I had been trying to add was in the plugin folder, having been installed in spite of the message.

Then I discovered that my limitations had become progressive, now making it impossible to switch to other Dashboard areas like Appearances, now also blocked with this message.

I tried switching to another computer and discovered that all of the admin, including plugins are fully accessible and functional, so this is just affecting this Mac in Firefox.

I cleared the cache and cookies. This made it worse. Now when I login the admin has no CSS and I am presented with a white screen with an unstyled list of the text links for the admin dashboard. If I click on one I continue to get the error message.

Help! I have worked on a lot of WP sites and have never seen this one. How can I get rid of the error message and regain the styles for Admin?
