OLW reports:
“Unexpected error has occured while attempting to log in:
Invalid Server Repsonse – The repsonse to the blogger.getUsersBlogs method received from blog server was invalid:
Invalid response document receioved from XmlRpc server”
OLW is unchanged in years. I have several wholly different sites that all behave the same. Something appears to be broken.
But if I try to reconnect Jetpack I get a page to setup jetpack
I click setup jectpack…. I get a message:
“An error occurred. Please try again”
I have two separate WordPress blog sites at my domain earth01.net hosted by iPage…
earth01.net/Rambling
earth01.net/CarolConsiders
Note: The domain also has two html sites on it in separate sub directories.
I have had a WordPress installations in each of the blog directories for several years (rather inactive, but I want to start using them again.)
If I enter on my browser
https://earth01.net/Rambling/xmlrpc.php it cannot find the file.
But if I enter:
https://earth01.net/Rambling/WPfiles/xmlrpc.php
it returns the required “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”
But apparently Jet-pack doesn’t see this and tells me an error occurred.
by the way, I am attempting most of the management via the wordpress dashboard rather than the iPage site which I find confusing. Except for using the ipage file manager.
I am reasonably good a figuring stuff out, but I know very little about php and related stuff. Obviously?
]]>In the past I was using Open Live Writer, which worked perfectly. Now, however, with the switch to Block Editing, the uploads from Open Live Writer no longer work. New pages are created but the content doesn’t come through.
So what do I use now instead of Open Live Writer?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Does Authy for WP support xmlrpc? In other words, what happens if you try to publish using Open Live Writer? Does it let it through, i.e. it doesn’t support Authy and everything works, or it makes all xmlrpc queries fail? If the latter, is there a way to make them work somehow?
Thanks.
]]>Posts that are created with WP (not OLW) are available in the OLW Open > Posts list immediately upon publication whereas Pages created with WP are not available in the Open > Pages list until 24 hours has passed.
The only thing that I can think of is that Posts use the “loop” whereas Pages do not. But I don’t understand the 24 hour *thing*. If I set a Page’s date back at least 24 hours, it then shows up in the Pages list.
I have posted this on the OLW GitHub but thought that I would ask here as well. If anyone has any suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated
Cheers!

Works perfectly! It grabs the first image in the post (page) and sets it as the featured image.
Another fantastic benefit is the featured image thumbnail in the all posts/pages list; so very handy to see if there is one and what it is.
Cheers!
