So we installed the free version on our multi-user WP installation, and network-enabled it. Upon the initial configuration, we had to allow write permission for /wflogs, and successfully ran the first scan. All good.
However we subsequently noticed that none of the pages under any users’ domains were working; all were ‘page not found’. We decided to remove the plug-in and all data, so per instructions we checked the box under ‘Options’ to remove all associated data, then deactivated the plug-in.
At the moment we clicked to deactivate the plugin, we got an http 500 error – nothing was accessible on our entire network, including /wp-admin. We restored the .htaccess file, and everything became accessible again. Phew.
*However*, it wasn’t a clean uninstall (probably because of the 500 error we got right after clicking on ‘Deactivate’). For example, now we are seeing this under plug-ins:
1) How can we rid our database of all the Wordfence data and files?
2) Why would Wordfence break all the pages under all domains (the 404 errors)?
We’d like to purchase the Premium version but we’d like some insights on how to resolve these issues first with the free version.
If it helps, we had 301 redirects for several domains on the network. While the redirects continued to work, all pages (including the destination pages) were still 404 errors.
Thanks in advance for your help.
]]>How do I fix this?
Thanks!
My customer told me, that there aren’t any subdirectories FOR HIM on his third party-installation. His actual wp-site is working like that.
My server document root is: /data/www/www.customersite.com/htdocs/.
Because there are no directories(no root file path) on the customer server like above I exported like this:
MIRGRATE DB Tab:
FIND: //www.customer.mysite.com
—> REPLACE: //www.customersite.com
(Replace GUIDs,Exclude transients [temporary cached data],Compatible with older versions of MySQL [pre-5.5])
The startpage is showing up perfectly on the customer server.
Now my problem:
Backend is working. But all main- and subpages showing up in the menu of the installation are not found(The requested URL /somesitetitle/ was not found on this server.)! Hovering menu items is showing each path; for example: www.customersite.com/somesitetitle/
What can I do?
Thanks for any help.

]]>It has come to my attention that the “pages not found” section, is not catching all 404s.
In most cases I only see them in crawler section, when I go actively look for them and it has been ips that are trying to poke around for plugins, modules, php extensions, etc – I USED to see these hack attempts in the “pages not found” section – but not now…
I am verifying with my redirection tool – I can see all 404’s there.

]]>I have a setup where I’m using a single domain and have created 2 folders at the site root. For example –
mydomain.com/test1
mydomain.com/test2
Each has its own wordpress installation. My reason for doing this is that I’m testing a modified plugin against its original version.
In each installation (‘test1’ and ‘test2’) a page and a post were created.
The problem occurs when I’ve opened ‘test2’ to view the site and I then click the link to view a page or post. Instead of going to ‘test2’ I end up at ‘test1’. The page is “Not Found” and the theme links change from ‘test2’ to ‘test1’. Also the link in the ‘test2’ view points to a location in ‘test2’.
I’ve taken a closer look at test1/wp-content/cache/supercache and test2/wp-content/cache.
And in ‘test1’ I find the folders and files that actually belong in ‘test2’, and ‘test2’ is empty.
Maybe there’s a better way for me to do this test, if there is please let me know. However, please keep in mind that I need to test both versions of the plugin using a single domain.
Thanks!

]]>However, when I click on Posts, I can see my pages there and when I click on view for one of the posts it will display the page with the images that go on that page. So, it seems all of my content is there…but just not in the right place anymore. When I try to access my site, it is only displaying one page….but not the proper home page. I can see all of the content still exists when I view the wp_posts table in my database.
I have read through many different posts and performed all of the suggested things to try, all to no effect. (such as deactivating all plugins and changing the permalinks back to the default setting).
Was hoping that someone else may be able to offer some additional suggestions.
