hierarchy question

The last time I asked for help was 7 years ago, so a lot has changed! I made update to the pages, etc. Now, I made a new page, then attributes, made it a child, then picked a parent page. It does not show up after publishing it. I remember having to do something with hierarchy somewhere. Please tell me what I have to do. Send me to the right page link. Thank you!

Switch into a sub/parent term?

I’d like to switch an existing “cities” taxonomy into a hierarchal “states” taxonomy, and switch all the cities terms to be nested under a parent target in the switched-to taxonomy (states).

(CITIES TAX)> Sacramento
(CITIES TAX)> Los Angeles
… becomes:
(LOCATIONS TAX) > California > Sacramento
(LOCATIONS TAX) > California > Los Angeles

Messed with parent theme

Dear community, as a WordPress newbie I went to fast with my first site setup and before learning on themes’ parent/children setup I made a lot of changes and – well, mess, to parent theme. Now I am scared that either I will never be able to update or switch the theme or have to reapply all changes to new theme (child theme).

My setup: WordPress 6.6.1, Woocommerce 9.1.4. This is Multisite installation.

My theme: I have chosen TwentyTwenty-Four as my theme with the intention to customize it. I really do not remember why and how but at the moment my theme is named: Twenty Twenty-Four/twentytwentyfourcustom Version: 1.2

It is a parent theme, not child theme. Its style.css says: /* Theme Name: Twenty Twenty-Four but WP backoffice Appearance/Themes screen says it is Twenty Twenty-Four/twentytwentyfourcustom Version: 1.2.

Is it possible to:

Convert or transfer current theme and its customization to a clean Parent Theme (2024) / its Child theme setup so I can make further modification to the Child and have possibility to update 2024 theme in the future?

Missing classes for Shop Page when in sub-navigation

I don’t think that this is “expected behaviour”?

When the Shop Page is placed in anything other than the top navigation level, there are no CSS classes added to the parent menu item, making it difficult to highlight the parent menu to show which section of the site you’re in.

EG .current-menu-ancestor and .current-menu-parent

The above classes are added to the top navigation when you navigate to Product Categories in a sub-menu.

Can a custom post type archive have a parent?

Hello,

I’m working with a custom post type called ‘Team’. This archive is found on the About section of the website, so I have set the archive URL to be /about/team, which is working fine.

However, my Yoast breadcrumbs widget is not recognising the Team archive as a child of About.

Is there a way to set the custom post type archive as a child of another page? Or is my only option to disable the archive and display the custom posts on a normal page, which can be set as a child of About?

Secondary menu bar align center

I’m trying to find a way to center-align the whole secondary menu bar (parent items, not sub-menu items) on the page – both first and second rows of it (I’ve got several parent menu items, running into a second row).

Any suggestions? CSS welcome.

I am using the Location / Hierarchy context for visibility with a custom post type created in ACF that’s defined as hierarchical, and it’s not working as expected.

Case 1: Setting a visibility rule to show a block when:

Hierarchy
Post is a
Parent (has children)

Expected results:

Block does not display on Top Level posts (no parent)
Block displays on Parent posts (has children)
Block does not display on Child posts

Actual result:

Block does not display on Top Level posts
Block does not display on Parent Posts
Block does not display on Child posts

Case 2: Setting a visibility rule to show a block when:

Hierarchy
Post is a
Top level post (no children)

Expected results:

Block displays on Top Level posts
Block does not display on Parent posts
Block does not display on child posts

Actual Results:

Block displays on Top Level posts
Block displays on Parent posts
Block does not display on child posts

Parent ID available in the datalayer

Hi, I’m trying to setup a 3 party service in GTM. And it seems like the parent ID of a variable product is not available in the datalayer. I can only see the variation ID of the product, not the product ID of the parent.

Is there a way to fix this?
