Split reporting by Multiple Parked Domains

Hi Guys,

have a website with multiple parked domains and need to track each domains traffic individually.
Effectively, I need to split the reporting by host header.
Is this possible with Slim Stats?

Question: Is there something I should do in WordPress (for SEO) so that the parked domain does not look like duplicated/copied information? Is Google smart enough to figure out that theater is simply “parked” and not an attempt at original content?

FYI Background: Generally, films are presented in theaters and live productions (plays) are presented in theatres. The American public perception is to combine the two venues under the generic spelling of theater.

I am especially confused because wp MU domain mapping documentation talks about configuring with cpanel and Parking a domain. My new host state that they do not offer the facility to Park Domains. So I am left with Aliasing which seems to work but afaics MU Domain mapping is redundant in this scenario since the url still swaps to subdomain.domain.co.uk when a user enters subdomain.com for instance.

Dreamhost parked domain not getting mapped

currently trying to map a site from

www.examplesite.com/site1 to www.someothersite.com

Where someothersite.com is a Dreamhost parked domain

I have followed all the typical steps and installed the plugin in the mu-plugins folder (so it should be forced across the network). The mapping works, it goes to the page, but instead of showing the site it shows the dreamhost default parked site page (a cat gif/video).

Anyone who can help solve this would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I followed the steps and setup to a T, it just isn’t displaying my site.

Parked Domains Unwantedly Redirecting

I have a website that three other domains redirect to. My client now wants the primary site to be used for the other sites as well, so I thought it would be simple by adding those domains as parked domains of the primary. If you go to the root URL of a parked domain, it shows fine. But, if you click on a link from the home page, it takes you to the page using the primary domain, which I don’t want. I want the domain to remain the parked one. After reading documentation about multisite networks, I thought that it was the way to go, but I wasn’t really sure because what I read didn’t really sound like my situation, plus I’ve never worked with multisite networks before. Would someone be able to help me? Am I totally overthinking this? Much appreciation in advance.

Hey all. I am wondering what I need to do to mask the domain of a multi-site like this:

maindomain.com/subdomain/page –> subdomain.com/page

I have pointed the “www” A record for the subdomain at the IP of the server the multi-site is stored on. I believe I’ve setup the plugin correctly. I mapped “subdomain.com” to the subsite via Settings: Domains. I added “subdomain.com” as a Parked Domain via my host account’s CPanel.

When I navigate to…

subdomain.com/page

I am redirected to…

maindomain.com/subdomain/page

The maindomain is not masked like I am seeking. What else do I need to here? Thanks.

changing domain name

My site is hosted with TSO Host. I want to rename my website from its current name www.oldexample.co.uk to www.newexample.com – I’ve ourchased the new domain name and placed it in the cPanel parked domains area – can anyone tell me what I need to do to oldexample.co.uk please?

I realise I need to go into settings and change home address and site URL, but is there anything I need to do before this and how do I activate the new name and also redirect all pages from the old site?? I want to keep all of my content, I simply want to change the name of my website.

If anyone can please explain in a super, simple step-by-step list, I’d be so grateful! I’ve tried reading this:

Multisite with parked domain

I have just converted a regular WordPress site into a multisite and now I see that the parked domains that were working before are now automatically directing to the primary domain (ie. instead of domain2.com staying in the address bar it turns into domain1.com).

I tried installing the WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin but it only allows me to assign domains to the new blogs, not the original one.

What can I do to fix this?

Unique site names for parked domains

When allowing users to create their own sites from the multisite platform (and after installing domain mapping) and assigning these user site names to parked domains under the primary wp domain; so these sites need to be ‘unique’? In other words if a user picks a name such as abc.com obviously this is not unique since there is already a site with that name. And do these parked domain names need to be registered and paid for? Thanks for any help!
