I changed one of my page slugs from www.cashels.net/sample_page to www.cashels.net/products (as it was the products page of our website) and then the 44 posts that had previously appeared on that page disappeared. They’re still in my admin area but they’re gone from the site.
Initially I thought that changing the slug meant that the posts didn’t know where to go but now I’m not so sure as I tried undoing what I did but no luck. More recently I’ve learned that ‘Pages’ and ‘Posts’ cannot be used together and intertwined, if you will, but thats the way the site was set-up for us here through an external company. If you check out https://www.cashels.net/ you can see our layout is a menu bar using pages, and in each page there are posts or information.
Ideally, I would like to get my 44 posts back under the Products page where they had been originally. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shane Cunnane.

]]>Strange one this:
Site is around 18 mths old. Never had a problem but 2 days ago site disappeared. With my LIMITED knowledge everything appeared to be ok however I managed to re install in my investigations… DOH!!
Ok, this gave me an admin panel and everything is rosy… except I cannot find a single post or category from before!! Have checked the database and all is there so:
How do I get the posts back?
Site is madrid-guide-spain.info/blog

]]>I took all of my files from my directory, went to a new server, put them all back in the directory and it was getting an error. This was due to my wp-config.php file not having the NEW server’s info in it. Took me a while to realize that…but anyway, once I changed it to the correct information for my NEW server with the NEW database…I got it to load properly. BUT, it took me to a page that said I did not have wordpress installed yet and it had a link to install.php…..I clicked that, installed wordpress and it gave me a new username/password – I can login fine and everything but all of my posts are gone and this is basically a brand new blog.
So, my question is – are my blog posts somewhere in my backup files? I have the entire directory backed up from the old server. They are all actually IN the folder on the new server but for some reason it’s not accessing them at all and seems to only be accessing the new install that I just did. Is there a way to import them or something of the sort? What files ARE my actual blog posts?
I was on a shared box before. One thing I never did was export the database over there – I didnt know that I could or had to. This was also one of MANY sites on that server/database so I dunno if my site had its own database or what – but are my files in that database? Is it possible I have that database file backed up? What I mean is, if I took the entire contents of the folder that stored all of my blog sites files….did I also take a database file somewhere in there that I can import? If so, any idea what it’s called?
If they are gone for good I’ll be bummed out – but at least I’ll stop pulling my hair out trying to figure out what’s up. I assumed since I had the whole folder backed up before moving everything over that it would just transfer like all my other sites did. Didnt think there would be more to it.
Any help?
Thanks in advance
