WP Theme Preview Improvement

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this suggestion (not question) it would be nice though to get feedback.
Why doesn’t WordPress include basic dummy data on the same server that the themes are served. The few times i’ve looked through the available themes it always seems such a hit and miss exercise since we only get to ‘preview an empty template, thus relying on the thumbnail image. Would it take much to supply a preview of the theme with a few dummy posts and images and taxonomy entities tags, catgs etc … then we can properly assess the template as its meant to look?? As it is presently we’re usually looking at a near blank page … whats the point??

As I was previewing different themes, as I was switching to a new theme I got this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function sketch_get_option() in /data/21/3/143/150/3306476/user/3690176/htdocs/WordPress/wp-content/themes/irex-lite/options.php on line 33

I had just upgraded to 3.9.1 Did I lose everything on my site?

I have an interview coming up and this timing could not be worse!

404 when previewing my post

Hello,

Once I save and preview my post i get a 404 page. However, when i publish the post and refresh my main page i can see the new post.

I read some other posts which were dated almost a year ago that a decent amount of people had the same issue. If someone does have a fix..could you please give me a step by step as i am still new to this and learning as i go.

Dashboard says pages are published, don't see them

I’ve written a few pages, including the home page. I’ve “published” them, and they display “published” in the All Pages list. “Previewing” the site shows what they look like. However, the ACTUAL site is unchanged. What is left to do?

Suddenly I am getting “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria” when I try to preview a post after saving but before publishing? I can save draft and publish and it shows up.

2.7.1 Theme Issue

I recently upgraded to 2.7.1 of WordPress.

However, this is an odd issue.

Whenever i go in to: Appearance, and select a theme, the theme preview does not show. It’s just a blank white preview. It does this for some themes, and some themes do have a working preview?

Any idea of what could be wrong?

Edit and preview a theme without it being “live”

Is this possible? I’m trying to create a new design for my website, but I don’t want to edit it live and I can’t seem to do it (and see it “live”) without showing everybody else.

Any ideas?
