However, Google Analytics cookies still seem to trigger before the user gives consent. What is the problem with the code here or what should I do to implement prior consent on the website?
Thank you.

Thank you in advance for help! Wish you a wonderful day!
A couple of questions about your product / service to help in my buying decision. I have already had an audit run.
(1) My site is wordpress but do I have to use the WordPress plugin or can I use the normal version of your software from your website and install that on my website myself?
(2) My aim at the moment is to have none of my cookies tracking personal information so am I able to set that in your system? For example, whilst I use Clicky for web analytics the Ip Address is made anonymous so I don’t need prior consent for this and wouldn’t want your system blocking access to the tracking.
(3) Despite what I said in (2) one of my systems has to track full ipaddress because it is a security plugin that blocks hackers (wordfence) – I assume I can allow this access without permission needed in your software as it would not make sense to allow visitors to disable my essential security software?
Thanks for your help
Mark
]]>However, the basic documentation for “prior consent” (getting a user to consent to Google Analytics cookies prior to setting them) needs much work! I was unable to get it to work properly for several weeks.
I finally stumbled across their instructions for using Google Tag Manager to implement “prior consent” and it works very well! Using this method in combination with another plugin to maintain header and footer code changes, I am confident that all my work will carry over in subsequent WP updates.
I tested the setting of GA cookies in Firefox by using a database browser to confirm when they were actually set (only after consent was given).
Cookiebot should highlight the GTM method of implementation rather than what is listed on the plug-in page.
]]>I installed the plugin and successfully added the declaration banner at the bottom of my page. Now I’d like to block the unnecessary cookies from loading before the user gives their consent.
I’m rummaging through the content in my WP plugins folder from the cpanel, but I can’t seem to find any script tags with the search function. Can anyone please help me locate them?
Thanks!
