“Disable Blog requires a static homepage and will redirect the “posts page” to the homepage.”
It is not necessary to warn when a static homepage is already chosen.
]]>The basic idea is that I don’t want the pupils to have to do ANY customisations, but with my theme, there’s still one thing they need to do:
I want to set the front page to a static page, and define which page is to hold the blogs. The only way I can find to do this is through Settings -> Reading, however, I want to define this in the theme.
Is this possible?????
]]>I’m trying to create a website with wordpress (obviously!).
and i’ve set my homepage to be a default page (home) in the reading settings.
I was just wondering how i would set a page of posts in a specific category…I know in the Reading Settings you can specify a new page for the posts to go on, but thats all the posts (i want to split my blog into two blogs (using top level categories) and wondering how to do it…
Hope that makes sense?
Thanks,
Jon
I’ve currently set-up my archive pages to show only post titles/links, so that they can easily handle displaying 100 or more posts.
However, My main page shows exerpts and photos, so I don’t want to load more than 10-12 posts at a time.
When I changed the “Reading Options” in the Admin panel to display only 10 posts, it also changed that for my archive pages, which is undesirable.
So for the time being, I’ve bumped that up to 100, but hardcoded the loop to end after 10 posts on the main page.
I’m just wondering if there is a pre-fab solution, or something I am missing, before I go and hand code a solution.
Any help would be appreciated
PS – I did look through a bunch of the existing posts that seemed related to this subject, but didn’t seem to find anything really relevant. Please forgive me if this request has already been addressed in another topic, because I must have missed it.
]]>I tried to change the permission setting for option.php file but in vain.
Is there any way to change the “Show at most” setting? For example, can it be changed by doing something on a php file directly? Or any plug-in to control how many posts to show?
Hope somebody can help me.
Cheers.
]]>Recently I went back to the “Reading Options” page, and it is not displaying anything except a button that says “Update Options” which when pressed takes me to a table of variables (options.php).
I have tried deactivating all plugins, as well as reinstalling all the original wp-admin files and still the page does not display reading options.
THEN, I tried installing filosofo homepage control ( https://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/home-page-control/ ) and it is not able to display any of my pages as options.
Any thoughts?
]]>I have created all six pages, with the first named “Home”.
I don’t want my front page to display “recent posts”, but instead display my page named “Home”.
This is appears possible by (in the admin section) going to:
OPTIONS->READING->READING OPTIONS->FRONT PAGE->
Front page displays:
A static page (select)
Front page: Home
Now when I do this, two of the site’s navigation tabs are named “Home” – the first, presumably, because of the above settings, the second, presumably, because I have a published page named “Home”.
Is there a setting that will have only one tab for the “Home” page?
Thanks for your help!
Tim

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
It always look like that, when I wanna change the ‘Reading Options.’ I wanna change the ‘Blog pages… Show at most: %posts/dates,’ but unfortunately it won’t let me ._.

Thanks
