Google Analytics has recently begun to show evidence of referral (or referrer) spam in my site’s stats.
Would WordFence be able to filter this existing condition to keep it from happening any further?
And will it address any future referral spam attempts?
Thanks.
]]>I am using WordFence Advanced Blocking to block Referrer Spam
since Spamers are changing domains constantly, it’s a never ending game of cat and mouse, so instead of trying to find new Referrer Spam in Google Analytics, I have decided to block whole domain endings
I don’t want Referral traffic from these domains: *.tk,*.cf,*.gq,*.ga,*.ml,*.xyz
spamers are using free domains .tk , .cf, .gq, .ga, .ml
and cheap domains .xyz
so I have tried to create a rule
Referer (website visitor arrived from) that matches: *.tk,*.cf,*.gq,*.ga,*.ml,*.xyz
Enter a reason you're blocking this visitor pattern: Referrer Spam
but it doesn’t work
however, if I create separate rules for each domain ending, it works
Referer (website visitor arrived from) that matches: *.tk
Enter a reason you're blocking this visitor pattern: Referrer Spam .tk
Referer (website visitor arrived from) that matches: *.ml
Enter a reason you're blocking this visitor pattern: Referrer Spam .ml
and so on…
could you please look up, why is it so ?
you can register some free domain on freenom.com for testing purposes

]]>I want to block these Referrer Spam
https://pastebin.com/Rx8JQCAN
Problem 1: there is some lenght limitation, so not everything is pasted
Problem 2: can’t edit already existing rules, I have to delete them and add again with modifications
Solution to Problem 1 – can you please remove limitation, or allow importing lists
Solution to Problem 2 – can you please add EDIT function for already existing rules?
Question: is there some simple way to prevent duplicate entries?
thank you

]]>From my untill now manually updated list of spam referrers I have these which you perhaps might want to include in the plugins block list: [Spam moderated, please use pastebin instead]
Hope this helps.

]]>Lately (the last 9 months or so?), I have to snag all the referrer spam URLs myself and create filters in google analytics, as the plugin is not getting to them first.
I always enter the new spam URLs into the plugin list and then “Upload to Server” (there is no “Send” button as instructed above the list).
Even though I have all installations set to “download daily” I never see that the list on my sites grows; there are no fresh URLs added via any download.
So, basically, this plugin doesn’t seem to be working. Have you abandoned it?
Thank you,

Looks like a 404 Not Found page was created. The search hits this page and is counted in my stats. Just need to clean up my site.
