Regenerate Thumbnails creates duplicate files every time it is run

When I regenerate thumbnails using that plugin, it creates a new file. I am creating webp files, and works pretty great, but every time I do that to update existing files, it adds to the end of the filename: “-oldext.webp”, but it does it even to previously generated webp files. If you run it once, it changes filename.jpg to filename-jpg.webp. If you run it a second time, it creates a new file instead of replacing the existing, and changes the name to filename-jpg-webp.webp. A third time gets you filename-jpg-webp-webp.webp.

It isn’t the end of the world, it is manageable, but would be nice if it didn’t keep creating new files every single time. For now, we won’t run it site wide more than once.

Feature suggestion: remove image sizes

Hello ASE team! Would it be possible to add a feature to remove/unregister unnecessary image sizes created by WordPress and themes? Maybe the “Regenerate thumbnails” feature would also work really well alongside it.

Delete Invoices and Recreate

I have just added this plugin as we have a need to print invoices and packing slips and it seems an ideal plugin for what we want to do.

We set it up using the General and Documents tab which didn’t give an option to add the store logo. We mistakenly assumed it was going to use the one for order and email generation.

When we created the first two PDF Invoices the logo was not present.

We then went through the Advanced-Tools-Setup Wizard where could choose a logo. Yes, should have done this first.

So my question is how do delete the first couple of PDF Invoices that were generated without the logo and regenerate them with the logo.

Remove all scaled images and regenerate them with AVIF

Today I found Performance Lab’s Modern Image Formats – WordPress plugin | www.ads-software.com that helps me to convert all images to AVIF.

Given that, I’d like to remove all earlier images in my /uploads/ folders and regenerate them in AVIF.

There must be wp cli options, but I can’t find relevant information.

Below is what I intend to do.

First, remove all scaled images and just keep the original jp(e)g, png, and gif. (There are PDF files in the upload folder, but it is not scaled, so irrelevant.)

Second, generate AVIF version of each image.

Third, re-generate WP’s 3 default image sizes (thumnail, medium, and large), which I can find from WP Admin -> Settings -> Media

My theme is already adjusted to require only 3 default image sizes.

I have changed themes multiple times, and there are over 10 scaled images for each original, along with WebP converted ones.

Removing WebP and scaled images shouldn’t be that difficult. Just sudo rm to all *.webp and filenames with -xxx-xxx (x being numbers) should be effective. Generating AVIF version of each image is also easy that I just need to run imagemagick (recommend me if there is any better compiler).

For the third step, is there any WP CLI command?

Elementor constantly misconfigures the design view, I have to update the database every 2 or 3 days….

I use Elementor and Elementor PRO on several sites, however on this one the peculiarity occurs that the view is corrupted tediously constantly. The solution is to go to Elements > Tools and then Regenerate Files and Data.

I would like to know what could be causing it since I must provide a quick and definitive solution to this problem.

How to regenerate cache of all pages and posts?

Thanks for this amazing plugin! It’s generally working very well for me, once the pages are cached.

I sometimes need to manually clear the page cache.

When ever I do so I wish there was a way to automatically (or worst case manually) regenerate the cache for all pages and posts (ideally based on the sitemap_index.xml).

Is there an option I overlooked, or does anyone has experience with that?

I ran Regenerate Thumbnails for the first time yesterday and now the view of all images in the Media Library are stretched horizontally on the “attachment preview” (ie, when clicking to preview an image in Media Gallery).

I would rather not restore site to backup because it will delete hours of other work.

How can I undo?

I have installed this plugin to my existing website and selected the image sizes to regenerate. My concern is if click regenerate will it delete the non selected ones?
