Always had a reliable backup/clone on new environments, databases and so on…
]]>we want to buy a shop (woo) and it is made with elementor.
The performance of the shop is very bad, so we want to go with a custom theme and remove it.
whats the best way to do it? without breaking the website, seo rankings etc.
do we have to do a full relaunch?
i have over 3 years webdev experience but none with wordpress yet.
thanks for your time.
]]>question: my old page, which is still live, has a domain name (e.g. abc.com). The test environment, where the new page is, is at e.g. xyz.com How can I use the old domain name abc.com for the new page and then rename the individual URLs of the test environment (where the new LPs should be, because the current test environment URLs are not named in an optimal way)? I am worried about creating a 301-redirect-mess…
Thank you in advance.
All the best,
Christian
This show was created by past employees that are no longer with Classy Llama. We are undergoing a relaunch of the Llama Commerce Show and site and need access to this account. When we try to reset the password from the admin login, it says the site can’t handle the request and to contact the site owner – which we are.
I can provide the (last-known/documented) previous login that was being used, which was for the account login name.
Please let me know ASAP how to access and reset this blog! We can access the emails of past employees; we just don’t know whose it is registered under and are unable to reset the login.
Please help!
*Reached out to (email redacted) and received an error reply. Here’s what I’d sent:
“This site is owned by our company but has had many different users. We are happy to provide proof of ownership of the site, but are unsure whose login is needed to be used to access the admin panel. Jesse Tyler and Brett Curry and past employees of ours and we can provide the previous logins they were using. I just need to know what email this account is primarily registered under so our IT department can reset the password and update the login to a current employee’s email address.”
]]>The company I work for has a website that they took down about a year ago. They still own the domain, however when attempting to access the “wp-admin” page, it won’t load.
Is there a way for them to still access the site and it’s contents in order to relaunch it? If so, how?
Thank you!
]]>I added a folder ‘relaunch’ in FTP to work on my new website and installed WP in that folder, added a new DB for this folder.
https://jessicavoiceover.com
I replaced all files/folders to relaunch it today.
I erased ‘/relaunch’ in the database fields in wp_options.
I made the mistake of erasing the folder ‘relaunch’ in my ftp program because I had a backup on my computer, BUT I just now realized that the backup is missing stuff, such as images under wp-content/uploads… SO, if images are missing, I’m afraid more important stuff is also missing…
My provider told me he can’t help me & won’t even try!
I’m using the Divi theme and in the admin area, all pages and posts are EMPTY!!! There is no page builder with content, everything is GONE!!!
SO, question is, I have a database backup from Monday, an .sql.gz file, but I have no idea what to do with that.
I am grateful for anyone who can help me out!
]]>I only have 30-40 pages and 301 would be also nessesary since Navigation and lots of content and links has been moved on my new WP site.
I know there are so many posts and help availible you might know, which isn’t that complicated. I am going to do this the first time and I do not want to make any mistakes.
Any help or input is appriciated.
Thank you very much
Goal: new theme, new design, but old content/posts and some new pages.
How can I test and develop the new site, add new pages (by many authors over many weeks), customize the design (test it!) and then go live with all of this in a single switch?
Is the answer to install a new (multiple) blog with a single database?
Any help appreciated!
]]>I have a wordpress site that I want to relaunch, I don’t want to delete any posts, but i would like the front page to only show up posts AFTER the relaunch (the old content would be searchable – but not on the main page).
Is there a plugin or a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
]]>Elfenwald Ecovillage (mainly in German, English project summary available soon)
Actually it is still “under development”, there are still some things to tweak with the modification of my theme (based on “Hybrid News” from Justin Tadlock, themehybrid.com), there are still tooo many plugins and too much Javascript stuff slowing down the site (will be slimmed down, I just had to try out a couple of things), and a couple more things, let alone a lot of content.
But looking at the work in progress might give some people who are also in the process of building mainly page-based sites with lots of text a few ideas of how to do or not to do things… *lol*
The site is about a community/ecovillage project with a special twist, called “Elfenwald” (“Forest of the Elves”, in German). We are migrating from Germany to Paraguay during the next months and use this website to
I recently migrated the site from DokuWiki to WordPress – not because Dokuwiki is “bad”, but WordPress is better suited for our needs – more expandable, has SEO advantages, and much more…
so – cheers from another happy WordPresser…

P.S.: in case you have any questions regarding things I have done on this site, plugins used, and so on – that’s what this thread is for…
