I’m a tad stuck! I’ve added SSL to other websites in the past following the same guidelines as before (adding privatekey, certificate etc..) but have never come across this issue.
Using Chrome on a new computer – Website appears on Google Search, however, clicking the link brings up a ‘This site can’t be reached’ error – The web page at https://www.threecountiesmobility.co.uk/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Using Safari on a new computer – Website appears on Google Search, however, clicking the link brings up a ‘This Connection is Not Private’ – This website might be impersonating www.threecountiesmobility.co.uk to steal your personal or financial information.
I’ve contacted my hosting company and this was their reply..
After further investigation, it appeared to me that there are two instances of the website, and one of them is configured incorrectly. Both root domain and www – version are pointing to the same server, except the root domain works correctly with the SSL certificate:
https://threecountiesmobility.co.uk/
Whereas the www – version of the website appears to have badly scripted or broken redirects: https://www.threecountiesmobility.co.uk/
This is a scripting issue, and the fact that the website is using a third party SSL that was not issued nor installed by ourselves. We are not eligible to advise on third party scipting, you may have to contact the original developer to fix that; alternatively, since it’s a WordPress website, you can install and activate a plugin called Really Simple SSL and there is a possibility that it will fix the broken redirects.
Please could someone shine some light on where to start with this error, please?
Many thanks,
Stefan
I’ve a static html website and installed the wordpress under example.com/blog sub directory.
I’m using wordpress for posting articles under my blog in example.com/blog.
Now , I wanted to add some contents to my root domain using wordpress rather static html pages and I don’t want the links to be shown as example.com/blog/new-page rather it needs to be example.com/new-page.
Can you please help me how to do that?
Kr,
Thiru
I’ve gone through the instructions and also numerous posts on the internet but when I set up my redirection plugin it informs me that ‘agent is not using redirection’ and the check shows the big red cross.
What I am trying to do it redirect a number of old blog post from my old blog sub domain to the new root domain and folder (see below example).
OLD:
https://blog.gildenvale.com/2019/06/18/add-dimension-8-simple-ways-to-enhance-your-garden-without-breaking-the-bank
NEW:
https://gildenvale.com/4-ways-to-add-dimension-to-your-garden
So my current setup is:
Source URL:
Query Params: Ignore All parameters
Match: URL & Server
Server: https://blog.gildenvale.com/2019/06/18/add-dimension-8-simple-ways-to-enhance-your-garden-without-breaking-the-bank
When Matched: Redirect to URL
Matched Target: https://gildenvale.com/4-ways-to-add-dimension-to-your-garden
Just wondering what am I missing / have a I done incorrect?
Many thanks
Mel

]]>and it redirects the home page/index.php page only. I have quite a few posts/links that show on Google that I would like re-directed to the root domain when clicked.
would I need to redirect each link in HTAccess or is there another HTAccess rewrite method I could use?
All help is appreciated.
Nice Plugin, thanks.
I have a Mu sites, and I need redirect Root domain(NO-www) to the subdomain (with WWW), so I need forward Root domain URL for Web users, but, at least the super admin can still login to the network admin panel, so any suggestions for this case to setting rules? and what will happen if Regular Expressions enabled?
Your reply will be appreciated, thank a lot, nice day.

]]>I looked at various redirection forum threads, but could not very well understand the exact scenario I am looking forward to.
I have an existing blog installed in the root directory. At present root domain leads to the page displaying various posts.
I have done and another wordpress install in a subdirectory. This is because I want to use WP PROFIT BUILDER plugin to create various landing pages. I did not want to mess with my existing install in the root directory by adding one more big plugin. So I did a separate install in a subdirectory, added WP PROFIT BUILDER plugin, and I am now creating various landing pages.
So, if my root domain is: www.example.com; I have WP PROFIT BUILDER installed in subdirectory like: www.example.com/profitbuilder/
WP PROFIT BUILDER also comes with various HOME pages templates. I am planning to create one for my site. And as this is in the subdirectory, the home page will also be created in the subdirectory wordpress install. e.g.: www.example.com/profitbuilder/home.php
I want to redirect my root domain to this page (HOME page created in a subdirectory using WP PROFIT BUILDER).
that is – www.example.com to www.example.com/profitbuilder/home.php
Questions:
1. Can I do this using Redirection plugin in the wordpress installed in the root directory?
2. If I do that, will that affect my SEO any way?
Here’s the problem. After I disabled maintenance mode, I can no longer access my site through the root domain. The site is accessible as normal through www.domain.org but not through domain.org. When trying just the domain.org, I get the maintenance message. Strangely, it’s not even the current maintenance message, but instead the maintenance message that was in effect when I tested maintenance mode.
I tried clearing and disabling WP Super Cache (as well as my browser caches) but still have the same problem.
I also tried disabling All-in-one WP Security but the problem persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

]]>I need to replace an existing non-Wordpress website with a multisite.
The purpose for setting up a multisite in this case is requirement for a multilingual website.
With a conventional WordPress setup, I could develop in a subfolder or even under a dummy URL and later switch to the desired domain fairly easily with a few modifications.
Problem I figure is, that this doesn’t work in the same way with WordPress multisite. What I did in the past was develop everything locally, then setup the production website, copy files to the server, exported and re-imported the DB, in this way keeping downtime to a minimum.
Now with this new project, this is not possible as I need to have a beta version online for the customer to see, while the “old” website should remain untouched until the multisite is ready, and then be replaced by it.
How would I best go about it, as I can obviously not use the URL currently in use by the productive site for the root domain of the multisite.
What I could do is develop under a different URL – export DB, modify domain and reinsert. However this is somewhat fiddly and I don’t feel comfortable doing this for obvious reasons…
Any better ideas?
