SOS: Files in root folder not accessible

Hi friends. We are unable to access files in the root folder. For example the standard readme.html is also not accessible from the root folder.

Additional info:

We are using bitnami instance on AWS EC2.
The root folder is /opt/bitnami/wordpress
We deactivated the usual suspect plugins like WP-Rocket, WordFence. Still there is no respite.
The permissions for this folder are: 775. Owner: Bitnami [1000] Group: daemon [1]
The same works like a charm on our dev and test environments.

What are we missing here?

Media Library – All Files/Root Folder Display

I inherited a site from a client and their Media Library has a menu option I have never seen. I have reviewed and disabled plugins to to discover where this menu is coming from with no luck.

The Menu shows All Files and Root Folder. Why is this rendering and how do I disable this view.

I have posted a picture to my google drive to better explain my question.

Can someone tell me how to add html file to root directory? I tried different things such as dragging the html file to the root folder or finding buttons to upload. But it didn’t work. Any advice would be grateful.

Hi all and thank you for this amazing community.
I’m here to ask for your help with an issue I can’t solve.

I have been asked to work on a preexistent wordpress website, finish it working with the client and then put it online.

When I got the credentials I updated worpress to the last version and decided to change theme. I worked with the client and now the website is ready, except for the fact that it is in a child directory, and nothing I can try to redirect it on the main url will work:

the website I am working on is this: https://www.manolasgarbi.it/wordpress/, and I want to make it reachable on https://www.manolasgarbi.it/

What I’ve tried until now:

– changing the “Website URL” on “General Settings”
– changing the .htaccess file in the parent and in the child theme alternatively (I find a guide that told me to put it in root but I don’t have the authorization)
– variously try to change the index.php (with no result)

The .htaccess in root (I can’t change it but I can download it) says

ErrorDocument 403 /__tmp/topweb.shtml
AddHandler php5-script .php

Could please somebody help me?

Install packaeg to a subfolder in root directory?

I want to install a duplicator package to a subfolder in my root folder of my site, as i have a secondary site in that folder that i want to update with my local version.

So, how to do this? Duplicator says that the pacakge and installer files must be in the root directory of the server. When I do this, i launch it and its okay to introduce the database info, then I need to clear the wp-config of the root site , but I dont want to install it on the root site but on the sub folder .

What happens if i just rename the root site’s wp.config to a backup name ? Does the site get installed on the root site ?

I dont want this, i want it to be installed on the sub folder.

WP site is ready under a temp directory, what's next?

Hi everyone,
I know this is well discussed subject, but my hosting rep was no help. Please help!

I have a temp folder under the root folder (domain pointed). This root folder has index.html right now.

I made this temp folder for WP site development. This WP site is ready now under this temp folder.

Current WP site address: www.abc.com/temp

Can I just delete this index.html file and move all contents of WP site (in temp folder) to the root folder? So I can just type www.abc.com to go this WP site?

Do I have to change anything else?

Hello, I’m hoping somebody can help a technophobe like me who is trying her very best…

Domainnz (melbourneit) set up my website for me a couple of years ago, but won’t follow through on what they promised to deliver with my website – I never got a domain email address made so I have been using a gmail account for my very small business.

I’m trying to change it myself to a google business email so my business appears more professional and so I can set up e-newsletters for my website, but in order to do this I need to Upload the HTML verification file to my website, but I can’t figure out how. I have been hunting and hunting for online help but I can’t find anything. I also don’t want to change anything in case it screws up my site, as I can’t fix it myself and I can’t afford ongoing support.

My domain provider has changed hands and they won’t help me. I can’t even log in with them. No email support.

How do I upload the verification code to my root folder?

Please help…
