However, because of caching and sampling, people are now able to configure the WordPress Popular Posts plugin so that it plays nice with the server.
I don’t think the folks at Kinsta know that.
I submitted a request that they review their policy, pointing them to https://github.com/cabrerahector/wordpress-popular-posts/wiki/7.-Performance
I would love it if the developer, Héctor Cabrera, got in touch with Kinsta to ensure them that the plugin can be configured so that it doesn’t crash sites.
Thanks!
]]>I noticed that some records in the table wp_popularpostssummary are wrong.
Some records “pageviews” are different that 1. I noticed that sometimes it too the value of the “Sample Rate”.
I think that all must be = 1, right ?
I don’t understand why.

– I’ve clicked on all the posts many times and still no data is logged in the graph

Let me know if you can assist. This has been the best plugin I tried for this functionality and I can’t figure out why it won’t work live. Thanks!
]]>Activating and deactivating, emptying cache, and deleting Autoptimize cache didn’t work either.
Any ideas?
If you need more info, please let me know.

I could update some posts with previous post views updating the table wp_popularpostsdata, but for some posts the id is missing… Why? Suggestions?
]]>Love the plugin! It’s fantastic and I’ve really made use of it in my site.
I have two questions if I may:
– I’m on a shared hosting. When do you generally advise people to start using data sampling? I have it enabled and the rate set to ’20’ but I’m worried I’m missing views (even though in theory, it should be fine). My site can generally hit around 130 concurrent users and I generally get around 55k page views per day. My site focuses heavily on users submitting posts so posts are hit quite often. I’ve implemented phpfastcache around most of the site as I was constantly hitting the entry process limit but since doing that, I haven’t come near it.
– If I set a log limit. Let’s say for 10 days. Does this wipe the actual view count for posts older than 10 days? I’m pretty sure it does but I want to clarify. I want my views to permanently always be visible. Thanks!
]]>Is there a way to fix this? I’ve emptied cache and deleted all my stats
]]>What is the sample rate that you use? How often is the plugin checking for logged out user?
Thanks for creating this plugin!
