Tried to move WP, now everything is white. Can’t access WP.

Ok, I need urgent help. I did all of the steps in this article: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory , but now all I get when I go to my domain or my supposed WP admin login page, I just get a white screen. Nothing there. I’m looking at my FTP screen and I see that I’m in the right place, but I just get a white screen through the browser.

What in the world do I do know? Is there some file that needed to have different permissions set?

Moving WordPress to a New Directory?

Today I made a stupid mistake in assuming I could drag my WP files from their server folder into the root folder of the site.

My WP was working fine before but now when I visit the site I get a HTML page with no styles or images.

So far I’ve read over the Moving WordPress lesson in the Codex, it says to fix this I must make the old path a “symlink”, problem is I have no idea what a symlink is or what to do next.

Would anyone be kind enough to walk me through this process…

I am in the process of cutting and pasting entries from an old blog into a new WordPress blog. There is no other way to transfer my content. Of course, funky things showed up in my first entry, so I went into HTML and deleted code that was adding stuff that wasn’t ever meant to be. Inadvertently, I deleted SOMETHING important and moved my entire sidebar below my posts. Now, you have to scroll down past my posts to see what should be on the right-hand side. I’m giving “Paisley” a try, and that’s the theme I have screwed up, if that matters.

If you can help me out here, I’d appreciate it.

I’m thinking it might just be easier to go find another theme with similar features.

I deleted some of the installed files … now what?

What happened was I was trying to delete some duplicate files i ftp’d to the root directory. I tried installing word press myself not knowing I could do it 1,2,3 with my web host. Hence, duplicate install files.

I accidentally deleted from within the root directory … where the properly installed wordpress files were. I deleted files like wp-app and all those loose files not in a wp folder.

THEN I tried to re-ftp the missing files into the correct directory.

now I go to my admin site and it comes up blank

Have I screwed up so bad that I have to reinstall everything a go from scratch? What do I do?

Post column way too narrow

I just finished skinning the theme for a new podcast blog and on the homepage (https://www.willandwillie.com/) everything looks fine but go to https://www.willandwillie.com/?p=3 and at least on Firefox, the left column is way too narrow and I can’t seem to find in my style.css where the problem is. Where’d I screw up?

Screwed Up WordPress address

Hey Folks,

So, I’m a complete newbie with WP and installing things onto website more generally.

I installed WP onto my site, under the directory of WordPress. Then, I got the brilliant idea that I’d rather the address for my blog be https://www.example.com/blog than https://www.example.com/WordPress. So, I change the address (in both fields where you can) to https://www.example.com/blog.

Now the WordPress doesn’t work at all. Not the blog, and not the administration. I can get to the login page, but when I press the button to login, it just goes to “blog” and gets all screwy

I tried manually renaming the WordPress file folder on my site “blog”, but this didn’t work.

Is there a php document that I can fiddle with on text editor to fix this?
