How can i add a 2nd sidebar just like the pic shows? ty

Do you know if I could use CA Sidebars to create a second sidebar on those pages?

I have been searching all over for help to add a second “sidebar”. However it seems to me the term sidebar is fairly loosely used and covers a few things.

What I am trying to do:
On the page edit screen, on the right side under the heading “Sidebar” I can pick a sidebar menu that I have setup in the widget screen. Great. What I want to do, more as a time saving feature, is to have multiple sidebar menus (created from the widget screen) that I can select. Ultimately I want to have the first sidebar to be my actual menu system. Second, my featured pages, and finally – New and updated pages.
My reasoning for wanting multiple sidebar menu drop downs, is so that when i change the updated pages or what ever in the widget screen, I will then NOT have to go an update every widget in every menu that I have made.

If you think you can help, or if you want me to explain myself in a different manner for clarification – just let me know.

I successfully edited my child theme’s functions.php, sidebar.php and header.php files, and when I go to the Widgets panel, indeed my new sidebar is there. I can add widgets to it.

I still don’t see the new sidebar on the pages. I suspect it is because I haven’t added the following line of code (my sidebar is named ‘sidebar-2’):

<?php get_sidebar(‘2’); ?>

to what are referred to as “Theme files” in various posts around here. In WHAT files, exactly, do I need to add this code? I tried to see where in the Theme files the original sidebar was being called, but that didn’t help.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but no one actually comes out and gives an example of WHAT files in which to place this code to enable the new sidebar. I want the new sidebar to appear on every site page.

I’m a beginner at wordpress and PHP so this is kinda hard for me to figure out. I managed to add a second sidebar by adding a function within the theme functions, now I want this second sidebar to be displayed only on one page and within this page on the right side, additionally to the default left sidebar.

I managed to include it only on one page by calling the sidebar from a specific template, but I can’t for Christ’s sake get it to be properly displayed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way for me to easily use the template from my .com into my self-hosted blog? Do I just need to update the theme on my self-hosted blog?

Can anyone tell me what I’m missing? I suspect an association of some type but not sure where to begin & I’ve searched for a way to simply add a 2nd sidebar but not sure if my theme will allow it.
