After lots of searching, I finally found the theme I wanted- Serendipity. I purchased and downloaded the theme, and since have made aesthetic changes in the custom css plugin. I always “test” my changes first by using the “inspect element” tab by right clicking on my page. I’m a newbie, and this works for me. Then I copy the css coding and paste it into the custom css plugin, making desired changes, then saving. It has worked beautifully until now.
The theme I’m using has a shadow built into the structure to look like piece of paper over a background. However, I want a stark white background, and no “paper shadow’. I found the code to change, tested it, then used custom css to make the change like I always do. This time it won’t override. Any ideas? I’m getting closer and closer to being really happy with this blog. I greatly appreciate any help.

I want to migrate from s9y to wordpress, and I’ve installed through my Fantastico Cpanel a WP 2.8.6 installation into a folder (/wp).
On the root of my site there’s the s9y blog (https://www.pajareo.com) and the wp is installed on https://www.pajareo.com/wp, but… I can’t reach to it…
By doing a search, I’ve figured that is something involved with .htaccess… but I don’t know how to handle it or adding or removing from this file…
I think that my path from s9y to WP can help other people, so… Can anyone figure what can I do?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for me. It imports the users and categories but when importing the articles, it gets stuck after importing the first and won’t continue. Has anybody recently imported his serendipity-blog into WordPress 2.8.4 (German edition) and can help me with that?

I host myself so I do have access directly to a lot of files. My knowlegde of databases etc. is limited!

]]>I’ve tried to import all posts from my actual Serendipity blog to my new WordPress blog. Uff!
Because there is no specific import routine for Serendipity I’ve used the general import-rss.php. But …
- It results in a character mix – especially with German characters like ?¤, ?? and ??; even though I’ve paid attention to the character code settings
- Hyperlinks, image tags etc. are displayed in the new (WP) blog as normal text, are not interpreted as code
Somebody here who has an idea? Made experience with importing Serendipity? Or even better: has a plugin or a piece of code to do this in no time?
