Unable to edit ‘Custom Message’ whne sharing Post

Hi all,

I am unable to edit or remove the ‘Custom Message’ in the ‘sharing posts panel’. Every post that is now shared to my soc meds has the same title. I have no access to edit it in wordpress because it is greyed out.

I have tried to remove it in the orignal post but it is greyed out there too.

Any suggestions as to how to remove it will be appreciated, thanks.

This plugin does exactly what it promises to do: share my posts on Mastodon. Initial setup is very simple and it works right away in basic form. There is a lot of fine-tuning available and it’s not difficult to get it working the way you like it. Just visit Jan Boddez’s blog to get the details on how to do this. Tested with WordPress version 6.03.

I have two issues

1. my blog posts are no longer shared with my follows.

2. when I publish I get this message relating to sharing via twitter:

“Before you hit Publish, please refresh the following connection(s) to make sure we can publicise your post:

Refresh connection with Twitter”

I am not sure if they are connected but the effect is I have been unable to share my posts automatically either to my followers or via twitter. I have triad disconnecting and reconnecting to twitter for the latter point. I have a checked with followers to confirm my last post was not shared.

Featured Images Not Showing

This is my blog, blatherbubble.com. It appears that right round 07/11 the featured image ( header image) was no longer visible when shared. You can’t share with the header image when using the sharing buttons or if you were to copy and past the URL. It’s bothersome because I have done nothing differently to show the featured image. I would go into my media library, select Featured Image, find an image then select image. Just as I always have. Then, suddenly the newer posts are showing this odd grey outlined avatar image in the header and the featured image, as before, in the header. I thought perhaps it was Jetpack so I uninstalled Jetpack but the issue was still there so I reinstalled Jetpack. I’m not sure what to do and I can’t find a thread with this issue more recent than a couple of years ago. Also, I’m not confident to mess with the codes. Featured images not working when sharing posts

Since updating to 4.4., the featured images of posts do not show when sharing links to Facebook, Google+, Linkedin and Tumblr. They do work for Pinterest. When using the Facebook Debugger, this message comes up:

fb:app_id hasn’t been included in the meta tags. Specify the app ID so that stories shared to Facebook will be properly attributed to the app. Alternatively, app_id can be set in url when open the share dialog. Otherwise, the default app id( 966242223397117 ) will be assigned.

I cleared all the caches and deactivated all the plug-ins. Made no difference. Everything was fine before.
Any help to resolve this would be appreciated Thanks!

Why did my blog randomly share multiple old posts?

Our blog www.cuttothetrace.com randomly shared “new updates” on our social media platforms (Facebook & Twitter to be specific) & shared about 8 old posts – some from even over a year ago I believe.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could offer some insight on why this might have happened, and hopefully a solution on how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I am trying to wean myself off social media plugins and have assembled a code and css for share buttons (twitter/facebook, etc.) at the end of each post. The links are working fine (see for example https://www.englishlc.com/antonyms/), but the buttons look a little weak and generic so I want to use social media icons as replacements. The problem is where to place the icon path (src=”/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/twitter.png”) in:

I’ve tried using Firebug but the html code seen on each post page is different from that in the single.php file as it renders the post title/permalink.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
