I’ve encountered an issue on my WordPress site where spam URLs are redirecting instead of leading to a 404 error. I’m using the Rank Math SEO plugin in Advanced Mode with the 404 Monitor and Redirections settings enabled.
Example:
I want these URLs to result in a 404 error instead of automatically redirecting. Is this redirection happening due to Rank Math settings, or could there be another reason?
How can I configure Rank Math to ensure that URLs with “/1000” go to a 404 error page and do not redirect automatically?
Thank you for your assistance.

From my chat with support:
AGENT: Thank you very much for your patience Selena! I know it took me quite a few moments but I found the culprit

AGENT: It looks like it's the Yoast plugin adding an SEO related link.
]]>The spam looks like I’ve won a competition for things such as amazon vouchers, a new phone etc. Asking me to click to redeem my prize.
I don’t know what is causing the issue, I can’t pin point a change I made, plugin I added etc that may have triggered this?! Have I been hacked?! Help!!

You can check the links at bottom of the page. A white space and when you select it then you will see the spammy keyword

I have tried disabling all the plugins and didn’t find the solution.
Please advice…

This among other URLs has been affected. It has some kind of spammy content which I haven’t created. It even has Paypal links to purchase software and stuff.
I have also noticed a spike in backlinks almost all of them look fishy.
To my untrained eye this looks like hack. I’m not at all in a position to find a solution to this. I would highly appreciate if someone with prior experience and knowledge could help me out.
]]>I received a mail from Google, saying one of my sites were hacked. They detected hacked content on my website. I spent about 4 hours figuring out how this was possible. Searched the whole database, scanned all folders and also ran an Antivirus and malicious code scanner. None of the scans found any hacked content.
Then I started looking at the php code of my WordPres theme. The code was referencing the most sold woocommerce product and was displaying it in the footer of the website. Please see in attached screenshot “WahooFitness_Image1″. In the screenshot you can see that the ‘Add to Cart” button links to a spam link. When looking at the code, there is no spam. Please see a screenshot of the code as attached in WahooFitness-Image2.

All this came from a vulnerability in the “WooPress – Responsive Ecommerce WordPress Theme” where they did bad coding and caused me site to be marked as SPAM. Would love to hear what the community has to say about this and I really do hope Google.
