Mostly due to 404s or too many hits per second
I’m assuming from the name of the bot this is where it’s coming from. I’d like to confirm if that that’s the case.
If so, what triggers it to spider and how can I slow it down?
]]>Is there a way to whitelist spiders such as Screaming Frog, SEO Powersuite, AHREFS, etc?
This is annoying as it generates false positives in these auditing tools.
Another feature that would be beneficial would be to be able to allow or block spiders. Currently the plugin states “Plugin shows SpamFireWall stop page for any bot, except allowed bots (Google, Yahoo and etc).” We should be able to choose which bots are permitted. And the fact that you mention Yahoo but not Bing is a bit concerning…

How can I solve?
]]>PROTECTION X SEO plugin
I use the “WP Site Protector” plugin, I liked it and it works very well. My question is: does it hinder the site’s SEO? Does it hinder Google’s robots from reading the content? I thought that as the plugin prevents human access by the mouse, it can also hinder the access of Google’s Spider? Does anyone know how to answer this?
Apparently, my site was still a WordPress.com (sespider.wordpress.com) setup. No biggie. I installed the www.ads-software.com files after backing up the .com version. But the host (Ipower) decided to create a new re-direct folder in the core section of the account and install it there instead. Also, no biggie. I moved the files to the correct folder, created a htaccess file in the redirect folder to point to the correct location. Easy Cheesy. And it seemed to be working. But it wasn’t.
None of my updates were taking effect. I cleared the cache in three different browsers and tried 3 different devices. The site was simply not updating. My host (Ipower) has been no help. When I’m in my WordPress Dashboard, I see the changes to the pages/sections of the site. When I click the “View Page” the menu and page updates are there. BUT, when I attempt to edit with Live View, the Live View is not updating at all. So at this point, I’m n0w thinking the URL is pointing to the WordPress.com version instead of the www.ads-software.com files. I check my domain and it is pointing to the correct location.
It’s at this point I get heavily frustrated, annoyed, tired, and despite. Ignoring the fact I’ve not used WordPress in years, my genius self decides to adjust the WordPress link in the General Settings of WP-Admin. And now I can not even access my Dashboard. AND my site is still not updated!
Now, every time I attempt to go to log into my WP Dashboard, it redirects to this:
https://www.sespiderproductions.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fsespiderproductions.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1
Which consist of a 404 error in the tab’s title and the following text as a page:
And below that is the www.ads-software.com site but only showing up as jumbled mess. As if it’s missing important coding. All without images and structure.
The “Skip to content” element is a link that goes to:
https://www.sespiderproductions.com/wordpress/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fsespiderproductions.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1#content
The only semi bright side of all this is that the sespider.wordpress.com is still visible and my domain is still pointing to that internally…somewhere. Because it sure isn’t pointing to it on under my Host’s Cpanel Domain settings.
I am at a complete lost here. I can not figure out how to fix the WP-admin issue nor can I figure out how to get the WordPress.com site from showing up instead of the www.ads-software.com version.
Once the video finishes uploading and processing, you can see exactly what I see here:
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
==Post Update==
I used Window’s Game DVR o record the screen. Sadly, it did not record the Notepad I was typing in, nor the sub menues. Here’s is the Notepad message:
‘There should be a menu listing and a page section that reads: “Social Feeds”.
As you can see the URL and the WordPress.com versions are the same. But they shouldn’t be. The URL should be on www.ads-software.com.’
Hope you can help me. I’ve been running a small blog for about half a year. On a good day, I have maybe 150 views from 100 individual visitors – most of the time I have less traffic. Today, I already got 2,662 views from 43 visitors. 2,600 of these views happend on my blog’s home page.
I guess the bulk of these new views comes from a bot or spider that is accessing my blog over and over again. Unfortunately, this messes up my stats and hits counter with traffic that I have not “earned” and that is not real.
Is there any way to stop this and maybe even reset or readjust my stats?
I am currently using a free version of WordPress with ads. I already read about a plugin called WordFence and tried to install it, but seem to not be able to do so. Is this because I do not have a paid Personal or Premium account?
Anyway, hope you guys can help me out here.
Thanks for your aid & All the best,
Tobi
I don’t know what Google is doing with WP that allows it to spider to pages on a site that are not hooked in any way to menus, but how do i tell the webcrawlers like Google to not crawl a given page?
And is there anything I can do to make those Google hits go away, other than hope future crawlings won’t hit those pages after I implement whatever you suggest? Some private info is now visible on Google even before one clicks through…just based on the three lines that show up in the search.
