I would like to make a Trading Post using wordpress somehow where people can trade products.
As of right now, This is what I’m looking to create:
A Swap List – where they list the products they want to swap/trade.
A Wish List – where users can list what products they’re looking to swap/trade for.
A feedback section on the user’s profile where people can leave negative/neutral/positive feedback after the swap/trade is said and done.
Do you think this is something that can be done with Custom Post types? Or do you have another suggestion as to how I can make this possible?
Thank you so much!!
Is there any way I can set up WordPress on my own server, complete the whole website, then change it over when its finished?
I am talking about a straight server install of WordPress, not www.ads-software.com.
Please advise me with the best option to go for.
Thank you,

i’d like to know how to swap databases(if in fact each site in a network has it’s own database) or swap all the database info that contains a blog’s posts, tags, etc from one site to another inside a multisite network.
i.e:
[a] site.com/s/ (main installation of wordpress network, in a subdirectory)
[b] site.com/s/blog1 (a site within the network)
site.com/s/blog2 (another site within the network)
1) how do you move/transfer all the blog entries and other database tables from [a] to [b], or from [b] to (second bit is hypothetical, once [b] is populated with posts, as for now it’s empty)
2) do all sites inside a network share the same database? i’m pretty sure they do because my wp-config.php file’s table prefix only defines “wp_”
3) if they do share the same database, is it possible to split it so each site has their own database?
thanks in advance!

I began working on a new site (new look and new name). I kept the old site up and running while working on the new site, which was in it’s own directory.
Now that I’m close to finishing the new site and making the switch, I’m concerned with a couple of things:
1) I would rather not lose traffic from my old blog, so I guess doing redirects would make since. Do I have to redirect every page manually or is there a quicker way.
2) Should I just delete the old site altogether as to avoid getting punished by the search engines for having duplicate content?

There are articles on switching domains and switching websites but I can’t find the answers to these questions. I’m just confused on whether I should just delete the old site and move on, or try to save some of the old traffic by redirecting it to my new site. And if I chose to keep my old site live, how do I avoid getting punished for having duplicate content?
Thanks for any help
I have been looking high and low for a plug-in which can be used in a side bar. I know it’s used in other blog software so I wondered if anyone knew of one existed for WP.
It is basically a linking plug-in which has an image.
The image when clicked on is a linked graphic. Under the image is a box which has that image and blog URL which can be cut and pasted by visitors to use on their websites/blogs. Is there something that does this for WordPress?
The URL you cut and past would be like this:

https://blog-well.com/downloads/wordpress-image-link-plugin/ this was the closet I found but not sure that the image is replicated in a box below it so user can cut and paste image URL (my experience of wp is tiny. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks very much in advance for any help.
For example, if I go to the post reviewing movie X, I would like to display the clip of movie X rather than the default clip.
The sequence I’m trying to achieve is:
1. Check if you’re on the frontpage or not,
2. If on frontpage, display the clip I hardcoded in the lateral bar,
3. If not on frontpage, identify the post displayed and see if there’s an associated video clip,
4. If there is an associated clip, display it. If not, display the default clip.
For a bit, I thought I could manage that with the personalized fields you can create for a post, inserting the required embedded clip code in there, which makes it unique for each relevant post. Then I was hoping that by calling the meta tag it creates, I could display the appropriate clip. Unfortunately (yeah, I should have read further first!), that works only within the loop, so I’m out of luck there.
Any idea if it’s doable and suggestions on how to go about it?
