However, if I navigate to another part of my site, by clicking my menu item “brewing methods”, the URL displayed in the browser switches to a temporary domain (https://box5119.temp.domains/~thrifuw4/category/brewing-methods/) and the correct icons appear.
How can I get my icons to display correctly? Currently running the Anther theme with all plugins disabled. Issue occurred even with plugins enabled.
]]>When I launched my site, it remained with a temporary domain name as the website address and my old domain name (which I wanted for my new site) is still directing to my old site.
I contacted BlueHost and they said that I need to contact WordPress and ask them to send my A record to 162.241.253.63. But I have no idea how to contact WordPress to do that…haven’t figured out any way of contacting them, and don’t really even know what it all means. What is my “A record”?
How do I get my new website (which has already been launched) to have my domain name?

Thanks!

]]>Question: How long does it usually take before my domain is placed on my WordPress site?
]]>I can’t get anyone on the phone or live chat with GoDaddy, so I thought I would try this..
I bought webspace without a domain with GoDaddy. My intention was to install WordPress, build the site, and then redirect my old URL to the new site when it’s done. I did NOT buy the WordPress-only package, but I installed WordPress with success via cPanel.
The problem I’m having: I can’t view, or log onto WordPress at all. Both the temporary domain name I made and the IP address are saying they’re invalid. I also can’t access any of the WordPress files through FileZilla when I log onto my GoDaddy directories. My ftp just comes up blank when I log in on FileZilla (if I go onto GoDaddy and log into the ftp, I see tons of files).
I feel like there’s probably something that I’m missing – like maybe I need to change a setting somewhere, or I just don’t understand how my temporary domain is supposed to work (I tried to “preview” my site via GoDaddy’s instructions, but it doesn’t work).
Thanks, hoping someone here will know, or have ideas!

]]>I have moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress using a temporary domain with my GoDaddy wordpress manager package. I already had my own domain name linked my blogger blog.
I just went self hosted.
Everything came over, however I can’t for the life of me get WordPress to work with my original domain name. Everytime I go into Godaddy account and make my original domain primary it stops everything working.
I don’t know if that makes sense,,i’m losing all hope I’m ever going to get my blog back and up and running normally again.
Go Daddy advised me tonight to go into wordpress settings and change my domain in the general settings, everytime I try and input that there it just states I can’t change the domain there, i have to change it at Godaddy and it continues to refer me back again.
This is useless because if i change to my normal domain in Godaddy, i then lose access to wordpress and can’t log in, it gives me “method not allowed error 405”. so I can’t then log back in to change settings.
It’s driving me barmy!, I would appreciate any help. Thanks
I know that I have to modify the home and siteURL fields in the database, as well as the multimadia links in the wp_posts able, but numerous plugins create their own tables, with the ld URL hardcoded.
So I came up with the brilliant idea (i thought) to export the full database, do a text mod of old domain name to new domain name and reimport, but that creates problems because of the requirement that you leave the GUID field alone.
Would the following scenario work – in all cases – ??:
1. Modify wp_options.siteURL and wp_options.home, as well as wp_posts.post_content (leaving wp_posts.guid alone, i.e. on the old, obsolete, URL value)
2. Export to SQL all other tables, modify companydomain.mydomain.com to www.companydomain.com and reimport
The problem is, I cannot know beforehand which plugins will be installed, but I do have to offer a fixed price, including the final move, beforehand.
So this needs to be quick, painless and foolproof. I looked at -all- the answers out there, and tested a number of them on some test sites, but most seem complicated and not foolproof, or not future proof, or do not work on plugins.
