no text view in 5.4.1

I added a blockquote and want to add color, which I usually do in the text view. But, there’s no text view.

On my page you can see one block quote, for awhile ago, with color. My new one doesn’t have color b/c I can’t get the text view to work.

Hi there,

I wanted to make some updates on my pages, but I am only able to access ‘Visual’ view. When I try to switch to ‘Text’ as I always do, nothing happens. Therefore, I can’t access my code and make any edits on it.

Please advise.

Auto-format tags & shortcodes

Hi there. In my posts, I have often have to work with shortcodes, some of them even having their own HTML tags inside. Why? It’s a long story. But I have to ask, is there a plugin that can format them (in the ‘text’ view) for readability + easier editing?

Here’s an example of what I currently have. Here’s what I’d love to get.

I’d really appreciate if somebody could point me to the right tool or plugin. It would really make my life easier.

(I know, there’s visual composer. But I don’t enjoy working with a mouse that much! Using the editor is so much more fun.)

– Visual view does not reflect text view.
– Changing from visual view to text view mangles the code – removing span, paragraph & line break tags, adding extra paragraph & line break tags and incorrectly changing indenting.
– Starting with text view mangles the code – adding extra paragraph close tags and incorrectly changing indenting.

This is what I noticed but there may be other problems.

Html code for email opt-in box only shows as text on 404 page

Hello.

I’m using Genesis 2.0.2 with the Dynamik theme version 1.6. I was able to install your plugin and added text, a few links and an image to the 404 page. Everything showed up fine. But when I go to add some html to create an opt-in form on the 404 page, the form code saves as text.

I’ve tried pasting form code in as html and javascript, and have tried opt-in form code from MailChimp and GetResponse. I’ve tried resetting the 404 page settings. Every time, the code shows up as if I had pasted it into the “visual” view, not the “text” view.

I can clearly see I’m in text view – I can see the code that creates the image and the links, but the plugin keep showing my opt-in form code, not the actual opt-in box.

How to fix?

Visual Editor

Hello Everyone,

When I am creating a new WordPress post or page my visual editor has started acting strangely.

When I click on the Visual tab I can see the two tabs for Visual and Text but then underneath the white box does not open and tools do not show – all I see is the bottom grey border. I have tried clicking the grey triangle in the corner to drag the box downwards but it is not moving but when I swap to Text view the tools and white box display fine and I can type in it.

This seems to occur in both Chrome and Opera which I have tested it in so far.

Hyperlink and html view buttons not working

The “Insert/edit link” and “Text” (html view) buttons do not work in Pages but do work in Posts.

-I have cleared all cookies and cache
-Tested every plugin
-Tried every browser

I have a Web Developer toolbar that tells me my errors. I get errors for both.

I don’t know what to do with the information in these errors. Please help.

The only work-around I discovered was if I go into Posts, select Text view and then go into Pages and open a page it will open in Text view but then I can’t switch to Visual.

WP adding way too many P tags again!

This is my one biggest complaint regarding WordPress and it’s driving me nuts. I’m trying to place a couple of a href tags around div’s on this page and I’m doing it in text view. Save it, clear both my browser and server cache and I still see the same page layout. It looks really bad in Safari where the actual paragraph tags shift to the left for some reason instead of being centered in the div as you might expect (Firefox, it’s fine.) and because the extra p tags, the div on the right is not completely clickable. How can I get this to work?

Can't add links, media or edit in Text mode

I’m having problems out of the blue with one of my WordPress sites. A few things that have been happening:

1. I can’t view or edit in text view, only in html view. When I click on the text tab, it stays in visual view.
2. While in visual view if I highlight a phrase that I want to add a link to and click on the link button, nothing happens.
3. I also can’t add media. When I click on the media button no window pops up to add any.

I’ve tried re-installing WordPress (have the latest version). I also deactivated all my plugins in case one of them was buggering it up but it still wouldn’t work. I also changed to a default theme to see if the theme was causing the issue. Still not working.

It happens in Chrome, Firefox and IE (all latest versions with cache cleaned).

Any suggestions?
