Wrong image display after upgrade to 9.8

After upgrade of Jetpack from 9.4.2 to 9.8, all tiled mosaic galleries have issues with column width and image sizes not being calculated correctly.
There are no JS errors in the dev console.

Here are 2 examples to illustrate the behaviour.
Before upgrade (still on version 9.4.2):

Images overflow the column container and are not resized correctly.
Columns have different width distribution.

Site is running on WP 5.7.2 with Newspaper theme v10.4. Galleries are inserted via Classic Editor.

Question about Jetpack Tiled Gallery block

Hello.

If I create a gallery with five images using the Jetpack Tiled gallery block set to the Tiled Mosaic style, the images are displayed with two on the first row and three on the second row.

If, instead, I use the Classic block and add a tiled gallery, set to Tiled Mosaic as the gallery type, the images are displayed as two on the first row, two on the second row, and a large image on the last row. This method uses the [ gallery ] shortcode Jetpack provided prior to the rollout of the block editor.

It’s just a personal preference, of course, but I like the second layout better; and was thinking that the new Jetpack Tiled Gallery block set to Tiled Mosaic style would look the same as the classic-block Tiled Mosaic gallery.

So … why does the Jetpack Tiled Gallery block display the images as two on one row, and three on another; rather than two-two-and-one? Is this a bug, or is it just the way the new block works?

I created a temporary page to show the difference, link below, using the same five images in both examples (and they are all the same size). The first gallery on the page uses the Jetpack Tiled Gallery block, the second uses the Classic block with a tiled mosaic gallery.

Blurry Gallery Images

I am having a frustrating problem with my photo galleries where some images look blurry in the tiled mosaic gallery AND in the carousel view, but look nice and sharp when I click “view full size” inside the carousel view.

I upload my images with the longest side sized at 2000px long, which should be a nice balance between high quality and keeping the file size down for loading, but I notice that when I right click on the blurry images in the tiled mosaic gallery and select “Open Image in New Tab” it shows the dimensions smaller. This leads me to believe that Jetpack is downsizing the images to create thumbnails and then up-rezing them in the gallery and carousel, making them look blurry.

If you pull up the full size image you can see a noticeable difference in quality.

Can someone please help me out with some suggestions on how to resolve this?

Layout of Photos in Photo Gallery

Hello. It appears that I am not longer able to specify the arrangement of my photos on my photo gallery pages. I used to have them in “tiled mosaic” format, and I recently noticed that they now show simply in columns, the photos themselves quite small. I did not do anything to change to this layout, and don’t know how it happened.I would like to change them back to the “tiled mosaic” format, but no longer see a way to specify the layout. I use the “Parker” theme, if that is relevant. I would very much appreciate your ideas as to how to fix this. Thanks!

Duplicating galleries

I’ve put a gallery on a few pages but after the gallery (which displays fine) there’s a second gallery that I didn’t put there that shows the images again but without the tiled mosaic gallery. How do I get rid of that second gallery on each page?! Thanks

Tiled Mosaic suddenly not holding

This is a well established site and has had no changes in a long time. Client came to me saying the following 4 pages have the tiled mosaic gallery failing to retain the layout. The images drop down and the text overwrites them. I’ve done a lot of testing. I’ve noticed that they’re fine when logged in. When I edited them and resaved they appeared to be fixed while private browsing but shortly thereafter, on a refresh, the fix disappears again. I’ve cleared the site’s WPRocket cache repeatedly and also cleared and then disabled the host, SiteGround’s, SuperCache as well. Here are the 4 pages with this issue. I’m completely perplexed as to how to remedy this mess. Thanks.

Mosaic Gallery Images Too Small and Not Opening in Lightbox

Hi, I’m running the Sparkling Theme from Colorlib and I have Jetpack installed with several tiled mosaic galleries. Almost every image is 1150×757, currently set in gallery to display at full size tiled mosaic. I am indeed aware that they won’t display at true full size unless I switch it to thumbnails, but that’s fine because I don’t need true full size. What I’d like to solve is that sometimes the images are shrunk down into tiny little thumbnails that are too small. Ideally I could insert a code to never display an image smaller than a specified size.

The second issue is that when a photo is clicked it is not opening in a standard lightbox. Checking with Colorlib, they say both of these are issues for JetPack support Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

How can I stop tiled mosaic galleries from always loading low quality images?

I am encountering a problem where Jetpack’s tiled mosaic galleries always load a low resolution quality of the image I have uploaded to WordPress. If I add the same image to the same page, but outside the gallery, it is the expected higher quality image.

I am using the tiled mosaic galleries to display two images side-by-side. I added new styles to the “tiled-gallery” class to force images to always be 50% of my content area (I am never using more than 2 images in the gallery). My goal in doing this is to make it easy for my team to add side-by-side images in the WordPress visual editor. The result has worked out great, except for the image quality issue.

I have tested every size: thumbnail, medium, large, and full size images. They all load the same blurry photographs. I inspected the code and found that the src attributes link back to WordPress.com rather than loading my original images. Is there a way to stop this? If not, is there a way to load the original size image every time?

Tiled Mosaic doesn't show all the pictures

Hi,

After working properly for about a month, suddenly my tiled galleries stopped showing some of the pictures. It happens in all the 3 websites I have in the same hosting, each of them with a different theme. Here you can find an exmample: https://www.aceiteslanceolada.es/2015/11/20/44/

If a gallery has 10 pictures, then 2 or 3 may appear in black with only the name of the file. Seems like the io.wp.com kind of link doesn’t find them. It’s weird because each time you upload the page, it can show and hide different pictures, so the problem is not of the pictures itself.

Moreover, when I don’t use the tiled galleries all of the pictures appear without problem. I guess it is because they are linked from the main folder and not from the i0.wp.com kind of url.

I disconnected Photon, which yesterday was also giving problems at the time of charging any other kind of photos. Any ideas?

jetpack gallery is not using 100% width

Hello

I am using localhost with wordpress and Jetpack 3.6.1
I tried to create several galleries that suppose to use the full width of the content div but every time it is using the inline style with the same width:500px in the generated div (ex: class=”tiled-gallery type-circle” / class=”gallery-row”) .

Example:

tried to use various combinations like:
SIZE (thumbnail/meidum/large/full size)
Type (Tiled Mosaic/Square Tiles/Circles/Tiled Columns)

The only option that is using the full width is “Thumbnail Grid” but I do not want to use it.

I reinstalled the jetpack plugin after:
removing the css entirelly.
removing the functions besides the basic for menu in function.php.
tried to use previous theme files I created that worked fine with full width.
disabled all other plugins.
tried the website online to see if some localhost configs are not set correctly.

none of those worked.

I do not want to hack / do workaround / do a patch in the function php file as suggested in the following link:
