Chinese traditionnal and simplified ?

Hi everyone,

I need to add chinese traditional and chinese simplified pages. But Polylang proposes zh_CN, zh_HK and zh_TW. How can I do ?

I’d like to report to you that I was trying to translate on WordPress using your plugin from English into Chinese (Taiwan) via auto Google Translate API and the characters came back showed up as Simplified Chinese (China), not actually Traditional Chinese characters. Same with Chinese (Hong Kong), I saw Simplified Chinese translations showing up not Traditional Chinese.

WordPress Sub-sites to Create Traditional Website Structure

I would like to create a traditionally structured website using WordPress.

Along the lines of:

Home Page
Sub-site 01
Sub-sub-site 01a
Sub-sub -site 01b
Sub-site 02
Sub-sub -site 02a
Sub-sub -sub -site 02a1
Sub-sub -sub -site 02a2
Sub-sub -site 02b
Sub-site 03
Sub-sub -site 03a
Sub-sub -site 03b
Sub-sub -site 03c
Etc, etc

I have created and had a play around with the “mutisite” feature, but it appears to be lacking in that you can only create sub-sites one level below the root.

Example:

Home Page
Sub-site 01
Sub-site 02
Sub-site 03
Etc, etc

It would appear that you can create folders within sub-sites, but that is not ideal for our needs.

The main reason for wanting a traditionally structured website (using sub-sites) is because it will be a very large website with many editors (hundreds). Ideally there would be an editors group for every sub-site (and sub-sub and sub-sub-sub-site if required!) and users would be added to the appropriate group to only edit the pages in their specific sub-site.

Is this possible?

Has anyone done this before and if so, what is the best way to set it up?

I need English to be my default language. I also need Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Is there a way to add Chinese twice?

I need English as the default language on the website. Next I need simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese. So the site will essentially be 3 languages.

It keeps telling me I can’t add Chinese twice. Is there a way I can get around that?

Just wondering how to install zh-hant (Traditional Chinese) –

I tried Adding a Language, but:

If I use ‘Language Code’ zh – I get an error saying it already exists (but I think the language code I’ve seen before for Traditional Chinese is zh-hant)

localization not working on most of the plugin

it translates just a little.
but anything that can be set, in the settings. these wont localize.
I’ve also tried to add Chinese into the text places of settings, after saving and refreshing the page, they turn into “??????”
Anything else on my site, works of I type Chinese.
The sites language is set to Chinese.
I’ve tried to go into edit the php page of the plugin. the result of the changes, turn into “????”

Why?

Category view hack

Using the On Demand theme:

The view when a Tag is selected is gallery style. The Category view is displayed in traditional blog format. Is there anyway to change Category view to the gallery style view displayed when a Tag is selected?

The wordpress.com version of On-demand is set up this way, however, when I switched over to a hosted site this was the only major difference. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Redirection & Traditional Chinese Slugs

Hi, I am using WPML to translate a website. The current original english version uses Redirection for quite a few pages. I’m trying to recreate these redirections for the chinese translations, but the chinese characters become question marks when adding redirection entries. Can anyone help with this?

My theme contains two design Traditional and Magazine style, I am trying to setup this option for users so by default it’s open Magazine style and if they want to switch to traditional style then can click on the button like this Switch to Traditional layout! and then the layout will be traditional for user!
