Fatal Error when updating WooCommerce

This is the second time I have tried to update Woocommerce and the second time I’ve had to roll back so I am not up to date with Woocommerce.

I follow my normal process

Backup the Database
Update WordPress
Update plugins related to WordPress
Update Woocommerce
Update Woocommerce related plugins

What I get is a Fatal Error which basically takes the site down. The error reported at the moment is

Plugin Version Not Updating in Plugin Directory

We’ve updated our plugin several times but the version doesn’t change inside the plugin directory.

I can see the SVN repository shows the latest version. I see Stable tag is set to the latest version. And the root file for the plugin is also set to the latest version. I’ve also waited several months for it to reflect in WP. Yet the directory still shows the wrong version.

The latest version is 2.6.1 but the WP directory says it’s 2.5.0

I’ve tried releasing new versions recently but nothing seems to work.

After Plugin Update Banner is not shown

When I update elementor plugin or any other plugin, the site doesn’t load anymore.

Removing Plugin Update Reminder for Expired Subscription

Update plugins gets stuck in maintenance mode

When I attempt, or the auto upload option is used, to update the plugins it gets stuck at the Maintenance mode. Then the website shuts down with this message “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

I have tried to update the plugins in different ways and from different areas through WP. Each time I get the same message. I have cleared all caches. Searched the forums and only found one similar case. His fix didn’t help me. It doesn’t seem to be plugin specific. Currently have 4 that won’t update.
