Database User Privileges Suggestions

I recently moved to a new hosting company with cPanel. I migrated my websites with the Duplicator plugin. When I created the DBs I gave the user All Privileges but now that the sites are migrated I’m wondering if I should scale back the privileges. The link below is what WordPress suggests but I have a feeling that’s old info and my All Privileges has more options than the list shown on the link.

My current host allows: Alter, Create, Create Temporary Tables, Delete, Event, Index, Lock Tables, Select, Trigger, Alter Routine, Create Routine, Create View, Drop, Execute, Insert, References, Show View, Update.

I’m looking for advice for the best set of database user privileges to have enabled permanently.

I’m using W4 Post List to create all kinds of lists on a very active website, which has multiple content editors with various user roles and capabilities. I would like to prevent certain user roles (editor, author, contributor or custom role) from accessing or editing post lists created by W4 Post List plugin. It would be nice if only admin-level users were able to edit anything related to W4 Post List. I’m fairly sure that there are many others who’d benefit from this feature as well. Would you be willing to develop this functionality to the plugin? Thanks for your great work so far.

hi could you please suggest the opt plugin for my following needs
i need custom fields forms used to save the data directly to phpmyadmin sql and want crud operations based on user types
ex: i want to build a website to student management
1. data should be saved in to phpmyadmin sql data base table
2. only admin user can access the fee paid status field ( column)
3. want to view/edit/delete the entries from dash board by admin

does disabling account creation prevent admin to create them manualy ?

Hello everyone,
I’ve had a recent issue affecting a website of mine. I had the Unloq plugin installed and I had to reset my phone (unloq app needed to be reactivated)
The issue stemmed from how unloq taps into WP functionality for user management and basically after spending some time talking to the devs (who are really awesome btw!) It was understood that I had found a severe enough issue that they should be rolling out some update to this.
To cut to the chase, I deleted the users under the unloq plugin settings thinking that would revoke unloq authorization. In fact, that was deleting the users. More seriously, it allowed the deletion of the super admin account while logged in!
So after spending a whole couple of days trying to diagnose the issue and going through the db looking for weirdness (aside from an empty wp_users table and near empty wp_usermeta table), there’s still an issue viewing the admin side.
I’ve recreated a couple of super admins in my testing, with the proper IDs and everything. Still to no avail. When logged in, I see “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” on the wp-admin/ and on the front page… I got the user bar with the logged in user… links on the right are for wordpress & wp forums.
I also tried repairing the db with wp-admin/maint/repair.php that didn’t seem to have done anything.
I tried comparing wp_users and wp_usermeta from other wp instances that didn’t shed much light aside from noticing that it varies a whole lot, depending on plugins and possibly other factors I’m not knowledgeable of.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated… I hadn’t done a db backup of this site since it’s not there for actual work, more like a controller of other sites, I guess I should’ve

Restrict users that can update stock status

I am building a marketplace website. There is a certain set of products that can only be one-offs, meaning there is only ever one in stock and when it’s out of stock it’s gone. I experimented with deleting or trashing the product after a certain point in an order transaction, but there are too many things that depend on that product continuing to be “active” even if it doesn’t display to customers. There would be time for a vendor to change the stock status of a product and sell that product multiple times when there is only one available.

I was looking for a filter or action I could use to disable changes to stock status for anyone but administrators. I came across the “woocommerce_can_reduce_order_stock”, but it seems like this is only specific to after payment stock changes.

I considered disabling or removing the stock options output in the Product Data meta box, but those options are output using “woocommerce_wp_text_input” and “woocommerce_wp_select” directly in output() (WC_Meta_Box_Product_Data). They don’t use or go through any hooks.

Is there a hook or a filter I can use that is more broadly used or specific to changes to the product in the admin area?

Problem with WordPress Install – database user privileges

Hi!
I recently upgraded my hosting package with Fasthost to include 3 domain names and 3 hosting. I already have a website www.klikadesign.com and this is the pack I upgraded.

I now want to install WordPress for additional domain www.klikaboutique.com, which is part of the package above.

But I get this error message:

There is more to this error message of course, which is very long and I’m sure some of you might be familiar with.
So then I google this error and I found out that this error might be caused but my database user not having all privileges set up.

So I went to PHPMyAdmin (through link on my Fasthost databases panel) to add all privileges to the database user but I can’t see anywhere a PRIVILAGES button nor the USER button. All I can see information_schema and name of my database on the left hand side.

By the way: I tried to follow the famous 5 minutes install :

However the Using phpMyAdmin Point 2 – Click the phpMyAdmin icon in the upper left to return to the main page, then click the Users tab – is impossible as I don’t have the user button.

I don’t know what to do next. I didn’t have this kind of problems with previous websites I was working on, so I’m a bit lost.

i need to make visible certain pages/posts only for a user who have access to edit pages in back end.Ex:i have a user who is in charge of adding pages to a certain category in a site.So i need to filter only these pages/post when the user clicks pages/post option.

Hi,

i have a rather odd problem with one of my wordpress installations.

I have a user with editor privileges that has recently been “promoted” to administrator. However the user reports that despite him being an administrator, both in the wordpress backend and in the users table in the database, he is still missing some wordpress Backend menu-items. For example: He doesn’t see the Appearance or Settings panels.

He has already logged out and in again and has cleared his cache and cookies.

Can you shed some light on this matter?

I installed User Role Editor and accidentally changed my admin roles. Now most of the my controls do not show up on my dashboard and I cant control my website. How do I change my admin roles back to default? Please help!?!?
