Question, I just updated WordPress from 4.4 to 4.4.1 and after that I ran a Wordfence scan. Even though I just updated seconds before, it tells me there is a file difference on wp-includes/version.php. The difference is that on my system there is an additional line added:
$wp_local_package = ‘nl_NL’;
This happens with every WP update, and every time I just tell Wordfence to restore the original version. That works just fine, everything remains Dutch. But then, with the next update it happens again.
How can this be if I just updated WP? Is there a wrong comparisson in WordFence?
Thanks

]]>I had read that WP 4.4. was aiming to use PHP 7. Fastdomain has 5.6 but it is Beta.
I had two similar sites upgrade to 4.4 both on Fastdomain. One did not make the upgrade, which I since revamped and is working fine.
But on a standard WordPress site using WP ver 4.4. what php do you recommend?
]]>I tried restoring from backup, manually replacing the wp-includes and wp-admin files from fresh wordpress download, and still got the same error.
When I try to take the version.php and upload it manually it uploads and then immediately deletes itself. I renamed it to version2.php (and edited name in code of ‘wp-settings.php’ file). This allowed the site to come back up, but by doing this I can’t update my site when I log in. There is no styling/css when I log in, everything is bare text.
Why would the file: version.php be deleting itself when I upload it and how can I fix this issue?

I’ve checked, and version.php is indeed missing. I tried uploading it with cPanel, and it says the file transfer was sucsessful, but it is not there. I tried creating a new file and pasting the correct contents. It appears to be there, but I refresh the site and it dissapears again.
What’s going on? How can I get the file to stay there and fix the site?
]]>One minor issue with this otherwise excellent plugin is that it always issues critical warnings for the modified wp-includes/version.php. In the localized (NL) version of WP which I install mostly, version.php contains an extra line:
$wp_local_package = 'nl_NL';
which looks totally normal and harmless. To me this looks like a standard alteration in localized WP installs. Why is WF still issuing critical warnings for this?

2) Earlier, while trying to run the automatic update via dashboard links/button, i got an error message saying:
Upgrade WordPress
Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.7.1.zip
Download failed.: Failed to connect to www.ads-software.com IP number 1: Permission denied
Installation Failed
Any idea why this error might be occurring, so that i can fix it for future upgrades?
Thanks,
Amar
