[Plugin Viper's Video Quicktags] Breaks in WP 3.6

I love Viper’s Video Quicktags, but it’s got issue with WP 3.6. I recorded a video to show how it conflicts.

I saw another thread on here that says to just stop using the plugin. That makes sense for new sites, but for old sites it will take a significant effort to re-embed all of the old videos embedded with this tool.

Hi, I’m somewhat new to WordPress, and have uploaded it to my domain name on 1&1 hosting. This is a whole other issue altogether, but 1&1 is quite a pain with WordPress and I would not recommend it.

The problem I’m facing is embedding quicktime videos to WordPress. The only consistent plug-in I have found for this is Kaltura All in One Video Pack:

It works pretty good, and provides a nice player. But the HTTP url’s used by this plug-in are generated from Kaltura’s, and eventually if I upload enough through them I will have to pay for an account. Also, this adds and extra step, and I would rather be able to embed videos directly from my WP Media Library, as this will save time because many of my subscribers upload videos here.

The other plug-in’s I have tried are:

QuickTime Embed – https://www.channel-ai.com/blog/plugins/quicktime-embed/

These two you are meant to enter some code in the post with the movie HTTP url for example

[qt:/video/demo.mov 480 240] or [QUICKTIME https://www.xxxx.com/quicktime.mov 320 257]

For these, I wasn’t sure to enter the code into the Visual or HTML screen, but either way when I published my post, all I saw was the code….no video.

I also tried plug-in:

For this one I couldn’t even find the button in the post screen that supposedly allows me to easily embed video.

The last methods I have tried were writing straight up HTML code for embedding video in the post and using the plug-ins:

Viper’s Video Quicktags – https://www.viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/

The results of all of these were a Quicktime player that only showed the big Q with a question mark showing no content. I’m not sure if this is a problem with the quicktime on my computer?? Also, I’m using the HTTP url generated from files uploaded in WP Media Library. Could this also be creating the question mark in the Quicktime player?

Any suggestions you have to easily embed video in my posts in an esthetically pleasing way straight from the WP Media Library would be extremely helpful.

Hi, looks like the Meteor Slides plugin may be interfering with Viper’s Video Quicktags plugin? I deactivated all plugins but Meteor Slides and the YouTube video plays fine. When I activate Meteor Slides, the YouTube video only displays a still and then links externally to YouTube to play the video. This thread below might explain it more specifically? Can you help? Running WP 3.3, BP 1.5.2.

Viper’s Video Quicktag buttons

I’ve downloaded and uploaded the Viper’s Video Quicktag plugin to my site however when I after I activate it and apply the right settings, the buttons for embedding don’t appear I refresh several times but still unsuccessful. any help?

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

I have tried this pluggin in wordpress-mu but did not get those new buttons for video, which is supposed to show up in editor.

The plug-in is installed, activated and I’ve configured the Quicktags. But the editing buttons do not appear. I cleared my cache in IE, tried it in Firefox, but nothing works.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have version 2.1.3 of WP and the latest version of Viper’s Video Quicktags, but the buttons do not show up in my editor. I don’t care about the buttons not showing, I just need to know the BBcode tags for all the different videos supported.

I already know about [youtube][/youtube]. But what about the others?

I couldn’t find any documentation on this..

I was just writing a post and found that, oddly, the link button did nothing when I clicked it. To check, I clicked all of the others and found that the photo embed button doesn’t work either.

I inserted Viper’s Video quicktags plugin yesterday, and this is the first post I’ve written since I got them working. I have no idea what could be causing the conflict though….
