some months ago I installed the W3 Total Cache plugin on my wordpress site, then I uninstalled it (I don’t remember the exact reason).
After some days I was unable to login in my wordpress panel because of the message:
My hosting provider suggested to simply remove the two files from the wp-content folder and I did it. I got access to WordPress, so that issue was solved.
Unfortunately only few days ago I realized that the public website is completely different from what I see when I’m logged in my WordPress. So from the back-end I developed for weeks on a website which is actually not visible to anyone. What is visible is a crappy version of it, with a lot of css errors.
This plugin seems to be the reason for the mismatch between the public version of the site and what I see from wordpress.
By the way, I cannot restore a backup version of the website because too much time has passed and I don’t have a useful backup. In any case, I would lose all the developments made over weeks.
How can I solve the issue?
I hope for a simple solution because I have no technical skills.

I deactivated W3 Total Cache because WordPress wouldn’t let me view any of my plugins. After trying to purge the cache, I realized W3 Total Cache was causing the problem. So, I decided to deactivate it to see if it would fix the problem, and it worked.
However, after trying to reactivate W3 plugin, I got the error I pasted above.
I have tried reinstalling the plugin and I am still getting the same error. Let me know what else I can do. Thank you.
]]>I got the known error for directory: /bitnami/wordpress/wp-content/cache/object. I tried changing the permissions to 755/644 (Folder/Files) and it didn’t work. However, when changing permissions to 775/644 worked. I am wondering what the issue might be. Thank you in advance for your help.
]]>when I open my “Plugins” page, I get the following error on top of it:
FTP credentials don’t allow to delete folder /var/app/current/wp-content/cache/db
and
W3 Total Cache Error: Files and directories could not be automatically created to complete the installation.
I then have two options:
– Either do the changes by myself via SSH
– or let it do W3 via FTP
The first option, doing it by myself, works at first, but after some time, it seems that my changes are beeing reset, because the error shows up again.
The second options isn’t doing anything at all.
I have looked through various posts and stackoverflow question, but I cannot find a solution that works for me.
Does anybody know what might cause my problem?
Thanks for your help!

I have days struggling with this problem. Hopefully you can help me.
I’m trying to install the latest version of W3 Total Cache in my blog.
– I download the latest version in my wp-content/plugins folder
– I unzip the contents of the file in my plugins folder
– I go to my plugins page and I click the “Activate” plugin
Immediately after clicking the link, the page throws me an error 500 page. Now all the wp-admin pages are behind this error 500 page. But the frontend pages work perfectly though, all the pages, posts, categories are viewed normally but the dashboard pages are behind this error 500.
The weirdest thing is, There is no trace of this error 500 on the Apache logs. I spoke with my hosting provider and they said it’s a problem with the plugin. When I remove the plugin folder (w3-total-cache) the dashboard works again. But as soon as I activate the plugin everything falls apart.
I made sure that:
– All the WordPress are owned by the apache user
– All the respective folders and files have the appropriate permissions (wp-content, .htaccess)
– The .htaccess is being written by the w3-total-cache plugin. It adds all the # BEGIN W3TC Browser Cache lines.
Do you guys have any idea what I’m missing here?
Thank you very much
]]>I have a number of issues that might have the same source, but I just can’t figure it out. Most probably, my coding knowledge is also not great enough (but pretty basic).
It all started after trying to install W3 Total Cache. You have no idea how much I regret this. After activating the plugin everything went white screen and the page was gone, including the admin panel. I tried lots of things to get it back (including fiddling around in PHPmyAdmin to really get rid of that nasty W3TC in its entirety), and this sort of worked.
Everything’s back, site and admin, but from that moment on, certain things just don’t work, and most of the times when they don’t: the server says goodbye and restarts itself, whilst going into 502 Bad Gateway mode, for like 3 to 10 minutes, of course.
Here are some of the “certain things” I’m talking about:
– A Google Analytics plugin that displayed stats on the dashboard stopped working completely.
– Whenever I “send” a command like “delete this or that”, the site gives me a white screen after that. Although, it performs the desired actions.
– When I want to use the sweet “Add new plugin” feature, I start typing something and the little round thing starts spinning around and never ends. No results at all. Stuck.
– “Pretty links” don#t work anymore, I mean, the links don’t work. Nothing happens. White.
I really can’t make out the problem. Here’s what I did, so far:
– Re-installed wp 4.7, in order to have clean files.
– Re-installed the same theme, clean files.
– Uploaded a DB backup from BEFORE this happened. No change.
The site pretty much “works”, from the outside. Minus the Pretty Links.
This is it: https://ingovogelmann.netw3tc
What could this be? I really have no idea, don’t know what to do anymore. Anyone?
]]>I am facing the “white screen of death” on my dashboard and am now receiving this error message.
I’ve already contacted the web host and there’s no issue on their end; or with the theme.
Context: I’d made some changes to the website, everything was working fine. I then clicked to update to WordPress 4.7 and the white screen of nothingness appeared. As of this morning, this error has appeared. It seems that there’s a conflict with the W3 Total Cache plugin.
Help, please.
With gratitude,
Gurpreet
