I built this website in 2010/11 and maintained it until about 2018. I know that WP is now completely different (blocks etc.)
The website is a low-hit, static website that needs little to no new writing. The SEO is fine (Google #1) as it is a unique tourist location and name.
I want to upgrade the website to a current WP theme for stability and functionality going forward for the tourism organization.
The aesthetics are old and plain, but, at the moment, that is a secondary issue.
WP-friendly and stability are first priorities.
The website is functioning, tourists use it, and I only see a few non-essential glitches since it has not been upgraded to a current WP-friendly theme.
It uses quite a few plugins because that was the need way back in 2010. I always worry about plugin compatibility as WP evolves.
– I could follow the mantra – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
The theme I am using is Weaver Pro II, however, it is outdated and no longer updated by the Weaver team.
Though, they do have a current WP-friendly theme (Weaver Xtreme)
Weaver Xtreme
The Weaver team has been helpful in the past with support and I will consider upgrading to their Xtreme theme. Weaver, I think, is a bit “more” than I need in a theme. It is good for semi-serious web developers/administrators who actively build websites (not me).
So, apart from staying with Weaver, I would like some suggestions for another current, active and user-supported WP theme.
And, importantly, a relatively easy transition to a new theme is important.
Something that, hopefully, can be done within a week or two.
Finally, a free or low-cost theme (this is a small tourism community with little income or resources)
Thank you for any advice and suggestions
Andrew
Open up any page on my site using Chrome or Firefox, right-click on a content paragraph and select “Inspect (Element)”. The computed font size shows just under 16 pts, which is supposed to see what I see, but on screen it appears as 8 pts. (I compared it to the same text shown in a word-processor on the same system).
I don’t have control of the default content font size in CSS. No matter what size I use (whether points or percentage), it’s ignored. So I can’t compensate by doubling the font size.
My browser font size is set to Medium (Chrome) and 16 pts (Firefox). Changing the browser font size makes no difference, but that is probably due to the CSS.
If you go to my site, does it appear the same way to you? Why?
(This also seems to be true of some other sites I visit.)

]]>I’m trying to make this plugin work with the theme
Weaver Xtreme. This a customizable theme. So I guess the selectors are not standard. I tried to find theme using the method explained in the help of the plugin here. But it doesn’t work. I also asked the Weaver developpers. But their answers didn’t help me. Or I didn’t understand it maybe.
Can you help please?
When I perform a search on my website (for instance arbellot) I use the ‘search this site’-box on the right; before the results included text results from pages and also results form tablepress-tables. Since a few day not anymore, only results from pages.
I tried disabling plugins to see if they caused the problem, but to no avail. When I disabled SSL-plugin I found myself in a heap of trouble. I solved these new troubles, but dare not disabling this plugin again.
I changed to HTTPS only a few days ago and use SSL-plugin for this.
Do you know if SSL or HTTPS could be the problem?
Have you any suggestions how to solve this or how to investigate this problem any further?
I have a big website, but I am not very technical. That is why I have chosen for the Weaver Xtreme theme.
Thank you for any help you can give.

]]>Secondly, we don’t use the Jetpack Mobile Theme. On every site where we are running Weaver Xtreme we have been seeing popup nag boxes that tell us to disable the Jetpack Mobile Theme. Oddly enough, when we check the Jetpack dashboard, the mobile theme is enabled.
This is only happening on sites where the active theme is Weaver Xtreme. We run many other sites that don’t use Weaver Xtreme and they are not activating their Jetpack mobile themes. I have to conclude there is a problem with Weaver Xtreme.
What’s worse is that deactivating the Jetpack mobile theme has no effect. The popup comes back and when we check the Jetpack dashboard again the mobile theme is active again. As I mentioned above, Jetpack is not magically activating its mobile theme on other sites that use different themes.
Considering I don’t have any reliable way of getting the attention of whomever is taking care of Weaver Xtreme, we’ll probably start moving away from the theme this week. That’s an investment of time which we will always hold against them because they are not monitoring THIS forum (or say they are not).
At this point in time, I am withdrawing all endorsement of the Weaver Xtreme theme. Hate to do that. Loved working with it. But this is unacceptable.
