I have looked for advice on numerous websites and they are suggesting different things that I should do and I am a bit conflicted. My personal view is to 1) use the “redirect” functionality in wordpress.com and 2) submit a change of address via the google change of address tool.
Are there any flaws to my approach, or is there some other approaches that I should be considering?
]]>I have been using this plugin on my website for a while without any issues until yesterday.
Last post on my Facebook page is FB notification that I changed website address for the page. For some reason, plugin doesn’t pull that post properly, and I get empty post info on my website.
Is it possible to somehow skip those “notification-type” posts in the feed, so only posts with real content and picture get loaded in the website feed?
Best regards,
Aleksandar.
Then, I had my host (Hostpapa.ca) change my ‘primary domain’ to a different one, so that I could use their “website builder” for that domain. I can only use their website builder with my ‘primary domain,’ and since I was using WordPress for thecanadianentrepreneur.ca, I got them to change my primary.
They made this change overnight. Today, when I tried to go to thecanadianentrepreneur.ca/wp-admin/ I got an error saying that there was “no such file or directory”
I read on their support page (https://hostpapasupport.com/kb/how-to-change-your-hostpapa-primary-domain/) and it said that If your website uses a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla!, etc., your website may go offline when the primary domain is changed (step 2 above). To fix this, you must edit the domain name in the CMS database once the primary domain change has been completed.
My domain name hadn’t changed, I still wanted thecanadianentrepreneur.ca to stay the same with the content that it had on WordPress. I went into softaculous to see what the domain name was, and then I kept getting an error about a database prefix.
I “removed” thecanadianentrepreneur.ca from under the “current installations” under WordPress in softaculous, then reinstalled it, and now my website has reverted back to the default WordPress theme and all of my content is gone
Is there any way to fix this?
]]>I currently have a static website designed with Netobjects Fusion and a blog designed with WordPress. I would like to remake my website and blog using WordPress entirely.
I’m not quite sure how to explain what I need entirely… My website is currently www.example.com. My blog is www.example.com/news. I would like to keep the same URL and retain all posts for my blog, www.example.com/news, and would like to redo my website with WordPress and keep the same URL, www.example.com, for my website. Can this be done?
Is it possible to keep posts under my blog URL and add “semi-static” pages under my domain URL?
My apologies… This is very new to me.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
