looking for some help/guidance. Since launching our new WordPress site it appears that GA4 is triggering a new session everytime there’s a new page view. As a result all our conversions our coming through as direct.
we’ve been speaking with our ad agency and they’ve done some investigating and they believe it to be something in the code which is triggering this.
With this in mind, I have no idea where to start to fix this.
Here’s some background info:
ga4 is being triggered using tag manager. It’s set to fire on every page.
the site was built using elementor. It’s been done just using the free elementor theme and using th drag and drop feature.
nothing has been done in regards to the code. So I’m a bit confused how this can happen.
are there some settings in WordPress which we need to edit to make sure a new session doesn’t trigger on every page view?
any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
we do have a freelance developer on hand, but I’d rather see if it’s something we can fix ourselves rather than having any additional costs.
