White Screen after uploading Elemntor update files

Hi,

I was tasked with creating a few pages on my company’s website, which was built on an older version of Elementor. I tried updating the plugin from the dashboard but it said “Download failed. Not Found.” something along those lines.

I’m very new to this so this might’ve been a dumb move, but I downloaded the latest file for Elementor and uploaded it on WordPress. Not long after, it gave me the WSOD without any dashboard, which means I can’t deactivate the plugin.

None of the WordPress logins are able to enter the dashboard. I’m not sure if anyone has ever accessed the FTP, and even if they do they are long gone (left the company).

The website is hosted on Cloudflare. But no one knows what are the admin email and password for me to reach out and get support.

I made a backup of the website on the UpdraftPlus plugin before updating it. I’m hoping this doesn’t erase the contents of the site.

I hope this is enough information to get me some help as I’m entirely new to this. And apologies if the terms are incorrect.

Premium Update Causes White Screen, Critical Error

We are a small market news organization, and I am using the latest version of WordPress. All plugins and themes are updated. I use the premium version of Sassy Social Share. The plugin was working normally before the update.

On Thursday, I was notified of an update to Sassy Social Share. I normally do not use the Auto update function as I prefer more control over the site functions. I performed the update, which seemed to go normally, and then went to the home page of our website (https://www.kttn.com/) which loaded fine. I then went to add a new article, and got the white screen of death indicating a critical error had occured. The only solution was to delete the plugin manually through FTP to our server.

I then downloaded the free version of Sassy Social Share, went through the configuration and it works fine, I manually downloaded the premium version through the email sent at time of purchase, re-installed the premium plugin, installed the registration key, and after clicking save, again received the white screen of death indicating a critical error had occured. I then went to the main URL of our website, and the site once again loaded fine. It is only when attempting to access the admin area or start a new blog article that the error occurs.

So, it appears there is an issue in the code of the plugin’s premium version.

wp_ tables gone after restoration of backup

Hello,

I took a backup of my site using cpanel as i was moving hosts. When i went to transfer everything over all the tables are there accept the wp_ ones like wp_options. Is there a way I can save the rest of my db and its data but add the wp_ tables back? I have already tried deleting all the tables and reuploading via phpmyadmin but that didn’t work. I have since lost access to the original host so all i have is the full backup of all the files (or i guess all the files accept the wordpress ones).

I just updated PHP from 7.4 to 8.2.23 on SiteGround and I got the unfortunate WSOD. After doing the usual turning off plugins and switching themes, I was surprised to find out that WordFence, which is up to date, was the culprit. So the site is live but WF isn’t at the moment

I keep receiving the white screen of death. I backed-up to previous files, cleared cache, deactivated and re-installed plugins 1 by 1 and also re-installed WordPress, but nothing worked. When I re-installed WordPress my website was up for a day and then white screened again. I tried contacting hostinger (my host) and the bot suggested that the issue might still be related to the input/output (I/O) limit, but none of my resources are close to full. Would you be able to help

White screen of death when multiple staging sites are installed

I have a staging environment “staging.example.com” where I have a first site “staging.example.com/siteA”.

I then installed a second site “staging.example.com/siteB” by importing the database sql from localhost.

I then installed a third site “staging.example.com/siteC” by importing the database sql from localhost.

Now, as soon as I install the third site and logged into the dashboard, “siteB” gives me white screen of death.

To fix this, I again imported database sql from localhost to siteB. Now siteB works and as soon as I log into the dashboard, “siteC” gives me white screen of death.

This keeps switching between sites B and C. siteA hasn’t been affected. All 3 sites have separate database names, table prefixes and database users. I don’t understand what exactly is causing this.

My staging environment is running PHP 8.0.30/ CentOS v7.9/ Apache.

White Screen of Death – WordPress Hosted with no back ups, FTP, SSH

Hello,

I have taken on a project to refresh and move a clients website to be hosted via WordPress on Fasthosts, and (in hindsight, very stupidly) before I exported the site I went to update some of the plugins and was immediately met with the White Screen of Death.

This was an entirely new project for me as my WordPress experience is as a marketeer not a developer so I am a bit out of my depth… From my research, I think I have hit all the road blocks but I thought it is worth sharing what I have done so far in case there is something I have missed.

I have downloaded XAMPP, FileZilla, phpmyadmin – and tried the various routes to access via a FTP but don’t have any site files and can’t access SFTP username or password as cannot access wp-admin.
I have then tried PuTTY to get Droplets (?), which I keep getting a connection failure with and from my searches think this might be because it is on a shared server?

Has anyone had this before? Or am I at a dead end?

Points of note:

The WP log in doesn’t work on https://login.www.ads-software.com just via “website url”/wp-admin/ – which is now only showing WSoD. The log in page says account doesn’t exist – but I had logged on using those credentials via the website url.
No FTP or SSH settings have been set up before on the account
No backups have ever been downloaded
No site files are saved
It was made in 2014 and has been pretty much left since then

Apologies if I have used the terminology incorrectly, it has been a busy 24hr of learning a lot of new things…

Plugin crashes site when activated

I have freshly installed WordPress, 2024 basic theme, Woocommerce plugin, and MercadoPago payment gateway plugin. When I activate this last one, it crashes the site. But if your plugin is not activated, everything works fine.

White Screen of Death and cannot log in… No one has been able to help

My site is showing the white screen of death. I cannot log in through wp-login.php or wp-admin, both return the “error establishing connection” message. I have been told this usually a plugin issue that can be resolved by turning off the plugin that is causing the problem. I cannot turn off the plugins if I cannot log in. I have tried to log into my site using FTP but the login credentials must be different than the ones I used to access the dashboard as they do not work on the FTP client. I am using a droplet on digital ocean to host the affected site as well as another site that is currently still functioning normally. I would like to avoid wiping the droplet and wiping out the functioning site if possible. I do not care if I lose the affected site and have to start over. I am not a developer by profession (is it obvious?). Just a family business owner that wanted to try creating my own site for the business. I would love to know if anyone else has any clever ideas on how to get back to my dashboard, or a workaround for this problem if there is one. Thank you
