We have been talking with wordpress.com but apparently we need to talk to www.ads-software.com! 8)

We have a web site and we are interested in using wordpress hosted on our own windows 2003 server and mapped from our own domain to add blog content etc – we use shopsite to manage our web content.

How would this work? Will it work?

I’ve been asked to develop a WP site on a Windows 2003 server with IIS 6 but I do not have access to the database and the system administrator who is hosting the site (which cannot be moved to another server) is having all kinds of trouble with the installation. I’ve found several sites for him that detail the installation process on a Windows 2003 server, but the domain still isn’t accessible (I’m getting a Directory Listing Denied error that suggests an index.php page hasn’t been defined) and I get a 404 error when I try to access the wp-admin back-end.

Does anyone here have experience with a WP installation on a Windows 2003 server who could shed some light on the problems my system admin guy is having?

You would have my sincere gratitude. I could stumble through this on my own, but trying to guide him through it without access to the database is well beyond the scope of my formidable powers.

page redirects not working

I have just installed WP 2.8 on a Windows 2003 server running PHP 5.2.5 and MySQL 5.0.51a.

Whenever I make any changes to the admin area, such as adding a user or activating a theme or plugin I end up on a white page and I have to delete the end of the URL to return to the main site. This also happens when I log in – I end up on a white page https://mysite.com/wp-login.php

If I delete the wp-login.php from the address bar it takes me to the home page and I have successfully logged in. The same happens when I log out, edit a post, in fact anything the would require a write to the database I guess. I have tried it in IE7 and Firefox 3.5 and it is the same.

Not sure what I cn do about this other than try a reinstall.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Can’t Import WP xml from WP to my Own WP Install

I have had a blog for a while on the wordpress server. I now have a hosted shared server and have installed wordpress, php, and mySQL there. I want to import my blog posts and comments from the WP server to my hosted server. I exported the file, but when I try to import it I get the following error:

The uploaded file could not be moved to D:\myaccountname\www\mydomainname_com\blog/wp-content/upLoads/2009/05.

I’ve read the posts about this issue but I seem to be having a different issue. That directory is there and has write permissions.

My hosted server is a Win 2k3 server so I am wondering if this is just a global pathing issue (see the forward and back slashes in the path). Can anybody suggest something so I can import my posts? This is getting very frustrating.

The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

What you can try:
Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

I am trying to setup on our own Windows 2003 server running IIS 6.0, PHP 5.2.9 and MySQL 5.1.
I can get other PHP scripts to run that connect to the MySQL server. I am the server administrator. I have configured the wp-config file with the correct information but somewhere along the line the script is failing. It doesn’t great any tables in the database. Thanks for any help.
