I have copied the Word Press location from the settings tab in the plugin as instructed. However when I try to verify the blog location on ftp I receive the following error message
Sorry we can’t find your WordPress folder with the info you provided. Usually this is because we need you to enter the WordPress location.
Please can you advise as I am unable to resolve this problem
Many thanks

]]>I have my wordpress installation in a subfolder on my server. I just finished setting it up and meanwhile had another webpage up until it was ready in the root of the server.
I changed the htaccess file to point into the subfolder and all seems to be working well. However, when you click on the home button on the website it takes you back to the subdirectory in the url area of the browser.
Question 1: Should the path be changed in the admin console to reflect the change in the htaccess file so instead of pointing to the subfolder have it just point to the root? or should that be left alone so in the future if I ever take the site down for maintenance that I can still access it via the subfolder path?
Question 2: When changing your htaccess file to point to a subfolder on the root of the server, should the original root htaccess file be put into the subfolder where wordpress exists? I found doing this made one of my plugins work after a failure. I just want to make sure I am doing it properly.
Kind regards,

For various reasons, I decided to temporarily change the wordpress address (URL) from the settings panel. I must have typed in the new url wrong or typed in “www” when I shouldn’t have for as soon as I hit save, I got a “Server not found” error. I can get back to the login (which now appears un-styled) but I get the same message when I submit user name/password.
How do I correct the mistake without the ability to log in?
Thanks for any help!
Sam
]]>could you please tell me where the .htaccess file is? According to Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory I should move the index.php file and the .htaccess file to the root directory if I would like to have the following:
actual wordpress storage on my server:
rootFiles/wordpress
whilst I would like to have simply the following displayed: example.homedns.org
instead of example.homedns.org/wordpress
?
Therefore, I now changed the wordpress address url in the general settings:
https://example.dyndns.org/wordpress
and
blog address:
https://example.dyndns.org
so, I understand that I should put the index.php into the root together with the .htaccess. Does wordpress have its own .htaccess because the original webserver’s apache .htaccess file is stored somewhere else and I don’t think I should move that to somewhere else.
Cheers,
George
