WP 2.8 introduced filters for the ,AIM, Yahoo IM abd Jabber / Google Talk labels so they can be changed.

I am having trouble removing those labels and changing them.

I have:

remove_filter(‘what_hook_do_I_put_here?’, ‘user_aim_label’);

what do I need to remove the label.

rss feed error after re install

Got an adult blog and use wp after i upgradet from admin menu problems started, the feed stopped working gives me errors when i try to validate it. On my old blog the content providers i used did not mess up the rss but on wp 2.8 they do.
Here are some of the errors i get under validating:
&disp_one
it also have trouble handling embeddet video files
content:encoded should not contain embed tag

How should i fix this?

I am facing some issue with my wordpress blog. I hope I would find some knowledgable enough to help me with my issues. As I am not very tech savvy, I hope some of you would be able to help.

Background – WP ver 2.8, theme ikarus.

1. Readers not able to leave comments : it state the admin disabled comments, which I did not. How can I enable comments.
2. Conflicts with plugins : WP is rich with plugins and is the main reason I choose wordpress. How can I resolved these conflicts.
3. Alignment out : seem to work well on chrome and firefox but out of alignment for IE Can I do anything about it?
4. Unable to auto update – it states cannot find root file. What should I do?

1. My readers are not able to comments on my post, does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

500 Error when navigating to any post or page

I recently updated from 2.6.2 to 2.8 and can’t get my posts and pages to load – I get a 500 error. Prior to the upgrade, my permalinks worked just fine.

Problem with post edit screen (minor?): Visual editor

Hi everyone,

this is probably sth stupid on my side, but here’s the problem:

(WP 2.8) If I enter the edit post screen, the text is in the text box but I have to highlight it to make it visible. So, the text is not displayed (or displayed as “white”. This only happens in the visual editor mode and only on my PC (in all browsers I have, latest FF, IE and Opera).

Because there is someone else working on my site at the moment who has absolutely no problems, it must be sth on my PC (and not plugins, etc.)

The only programs I have running are the Commodo Firewall, Avira Antivirus … and that’s it.

Disabling FF add-ons etc. did not help at all.
Again, the same problem occurs on all browsers (IE, Opera, Firefox) in their latest versions.

I have no screen-capture etc. programs running.

I’m baffled.

I’m the only one who can’t edit anything because I can’t see the text. Anyone else who logs into the admin panel of my site from any other PC can see the text and edit it.

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

Any help or hint is appreciated.

Urgent: WP 2.8 doesn’t support child pages?

I recently updated to WP 2.8 and that broke support for all kinds of things.
Needless to say I’m a bit desperate since the page belongs to a client.

All my child pages are blank.

I have a website setup using wordpress. Now I’m looking at doing a new website and found out about xampp – sounds fantastic! So I installed xampp, got wordpress installed, everything looks great. I go to create a test page (I’m testing plugins for pictures), and I can edit, but when I save, it just goes away. I went to the default About page (already has info filled in), I changed it to “TEST TEST TEST”, click update, and when the page reloads the original text is back. (Clicking Preview has the same result – nothing that I enter shows up).

I really have no idea what’s up – HELPPPPP!!

RSS throws Page Not Found error in 2.8

Afternoon. I have WP 2.8 installed on a GoDaddy server. For whatever reason, my rss feed on my test site (https://resorts360access.com) links are throwing “page not found” errors. This occurs in every theme, so I’m guessing it’s to do with WP.

I had a subdomain called “feed” that I thought might have been the problem, but I’ve removed that and still no luck. I also made sure there were no spaces/lines before and after php tags in a few files I’d seen referenced elsewhere on the forum, but still no luck.

Is this just a bad install of WP, or do you guys know of some things to look at? I’m pretty proficient in html and reasonably competent in *reading* php if that will help.

I don’t see a lot of activity in forums for this issue, so it appears I’m a fluke.

Thanks for any suggestions you guys might have.

WP 2.8 Themes Gray and scarmbled

I just installed WP 2.8 on a new blog. The themes show up as Gray boxes when viewing available themes and that includes the default. I have several other WP blogs one that I upgraded from 2.7 to 2.8 and had no problems with viewing the themes and having them work.

This current blog is a new blog which is the only difference. When viewed after activating a theme it is scrambled. Again no problem with the Blog I upgraded from 2.7. But the fresh blog on WP 2.8 doesn’t work. Using the default and it still doesn’t work correctly.
